AFSC Release Tomorrow

3:50? That's an odd time of day to chose for such an important event that will define the next 5 years of the lives of about a thousand people. Are we sure this isn't the rumor mill at work?

And this is a bit early in the year. Upside is this gives 2023 some time to learn more about the world they'll be entering in the next year. Reach out.

It's not rumor mill. They're doing it at that time to allow squadrons to do job drops tomorrow afternoon.

3:50MT or 5:50EST which is me. I couldn’t hardly sleep last night thinking about this. These last years have absolutely flown by and today is the day. I pray all the firsties get their first choice off their dream sheet. Fingers crossed for you son.

We got a lot of happy soon to be pilots!

I heard a rumor (woah a cadet saying that something is rumor) that the 24ers might get their jobs around ring dance. Thoughts?

I would venture a guess that at least half of a class but probably a little more want to go Pilot.

I’m a current Doolie and found out today we had 600 available pilot slots to give out and 540 were offered pilot. Apparently there weren’t a whole lot of firsties that wanted pilot hence the 60 unfilled slots (this is not a 26er rumor either, 23 and 24ers have been telling us this for a while with the 24ers hopeful the extra slots will trickle down to their class as well).

Class of 2022 Graduation... 973 graduated, 417 Pilot assignments
The number of pilot slots awarded to '22 seems a bit low given the acute pilot shortage. My class saw just over 1,000 graduate with more than 600 receiving pilot slots and I graduated over 15 years ago during a time when the AF had nearly the number of pilots it required. Interesting...

My senior said there were like 427 pilot slots given and like 50 given back unfilled. Do those slots got to ROTC or OTS or rolled into class of 2024 ?

I strongly doubt that they will be rolled into 2024 as the service needs to try to keep a relatively level population across the year groups. If they aren't going to usafa cadets then they'll allow more from other commissioning sources.

I was told by my DS' AOC this weekend that there are several cadets who got non-rated jobs that are going through qualification over the next few weeks for both Pilot and RPA slots. He said AOC's have been encouraged to counsel cadets who got second/third choice non-rated jobs to strongly consider Pilot and RPA due to critical shortage. There will be a board in October to consider these requests.
