If you want to payback the service committee by serving in the ANG, is that possible? Do you get to pick the ANG? DS really wants to fly fighters/bombers. It seems like this route would help guarantee that if he gets to choose.

It is my understanding that ANG or any National Guard componenent is at best a convoluted process. What will work is outlined at Service obligations. But some individuals have done the process, See ANG for the details.

Yes it should. One of my friends in my class is planning to do this. The former Army liaison laid this out as an option for me as well (flying helicopters).

Before I retired, I hired a KP 2020 grad to my squadron. He is happily flying C-17s in the AF Reserve.

Recommend your DS does not limit himself to seeking out fighter/bomber squadrons. The ANG is a tough nut to crack in terms of hiring.

Strategic Airlift is an awesome mission…just sayin..!

Funny, we were just talking about c-17s and how that would be his 2nd choice. I think he is open. Everyone we talk to says Ang is the best kept secret, but it seems like everyone knows and wants to join!
