So there is an "All Hands Call" on Wednesday at USNA, can anyone shed some light on what that entails? I'm guessing its about Spring Break and Coronavirus, possibly restricting travel.

All Hands means they are going to pass the word on something... Unless someone in the Chain of Command leaks , there is little value in speculating.

I heard there was going to be a crack down on mids having rentals in the local area. Parent's Assoc. already been posting to the parents saying it was no-no, and said mids were going to briefed as well. (But that might have already happened - ?)

All Hands is, literally, all hands. The leadership speaks to everyone. Quite often they can occur before leave periods to remind people about unacceptable conduct, or specifically address some current issue, directive, policy change, etc.

My DS is a 2/c and he said this is the first time they have had one of these since he has been there.

With two recent deaths in the brigade, it could also be a moment to reflect as well ahead of Spring Break. Many large companies are cancelling non-essential travel, so a travel related message would not be a surprise either.

LOL
Not sure how many midshipmen were planning to go to China or Iran for the week anyway. ;)
A friend just posted that his plastic surgeons convention in New Orleans was cancelled because of corona virus. And another friend in Silicon Valley posted pics of all the empty shelves at his grocery stores because people are stocking up and hunkering down in homes to avoid contagion. Soooooo..... I am imagining way worse than China and Iran, if it comes to travel restrictions.

Our local state U is canceling overseas study in Italy. They are to be back by Friday this week.

My friends MIDN said all level two and above travel is cancelled at USNA. They had a MIDN traveling To Paris. Not anymore!

Uhm, level 2 and above? Inferring that mean international travel destinations?

If USNA is not allowing travel outside the continental United States (OCONUS), then MIDN who live in Hawaii will be unable to come home for Spring Break. Glad my son decided to go to Colorado with some of his company-mates. Otherwise, may have been a huge disappointment. Same holds for those from PR, Guam, Samoa...

I'm only guessing but if OCONUS travel was disallowed for the academy, it will also be disallowed for NROTC midshipmen. It might just be a matter of it filtering down. Of course, it's only a guess and proximity at the academy might be the only driving factor. In any case, I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.

And here I was thinking it would be:

Supe: "Spring Break cancelled due to concerns about Coronavirus".

Mutiny ensues.
Timothy Hutton takes over as Supe, and Tom Cruise gets on the 50 - in his sand-bagged room in Mother B - ready to face the tanks.

For any cadets or mids reading this, if you get sick on spring break, this is not the time to suck it up and power through. Get it checked out, don’t risk taking a viral souvenir back to your shipmates, wingmates, battle buddies, as colds and other bugs often come back from around the country and world after leave periods.

Also influenza is REALLY going around our area. Two of mine have had it (B), one currently. Pay attention to your body. And get checked out. Great advice @Capt MJ.
