Anti-Affirmative Group Sues Naval Academy

I don't think you understand what is meant by privilege. We still exist in a world where we make assumptions. There are assumptions made about whites, blacks, asians, men, women, Muslims, Catholics,, gays, teen mothers, high school drop outs, unhoused, alcoholics, short people, fat people, skinny people, old people. Now put the word privilege after those words. What is Asian privilege in America? What is male privilege in America? If you are a man, you have that privilege - play that forward into your definition of white privilege. If you are white, you have it. That is why it is called white privilege.
You are entitled to subscribe to that theory. I however do not.

It is not a theory, it is an idea. No one is asking you to subscribe to anything. It is a definition. Many words have more than one definition. Just like there are many ways to use the word gay, there are many ways to use the word privilege. Most people do not feel privileged and are offended by being categorized as such. While I do not have "white privilege", I have a lot of other kinds of privilege and I am very grateful for it all.

You are one of those people who don't see color?
Quite the contrary. I don't need to subscribe to Neo-Marxist ideas like white privilege to observe that yes, there are challenges that people of color (and people not of color) experience in this country that need to be (and are being) addressed. I reject the idea that advancement of other ethnicities has to come at the expense of others. Somehow in this country, the far left and 1% formed an unholy alliance to have the middle and lower classes fight each other. There's plenty of resources to go around, but the top of the income distribution it grabbing it all up...that's where the vitriol needs to be aimed at.

### … bit of a Segue here, but … ###

The Federal Funds Rate (FFR) is Agnostic … doesn’t see Entity, Institution, Color, Religion, Income, Political Affiliation … Nothing

The Zero Interest Rate Policy (ZIRP) of the past 20 years or more is the Root cause for a lot of the Fiscal & Social Ills today …

J. Powell is not helping Main-street when he decides that it’s time to lower the FFR …. He’s helping Wall Street and …

Wealth distribution will be on a more “Equal Footing” across the Socio-Economic Landsape when $$$ are “Worth Something”

### The fix: Naturally Higher FFR ###

Naturally higher interest rates will:

- Reduce/Eliminate debt across the socio-economic landscape
- Eliminate dangerous speculative behavior
- Encourage saving instead of leverage (borrowing)
- Naturally teach people to understand what finance and financial responsibility means
- Naturally Reign-in Corporate and Government Spending …

### This is “Affirmative Action” …. This is how you help Main-Street ###

Not sure what that means.
The law of attraction says that what is similar is attracted. This law operates in our society when you see that the one who talks about illnesses the most is sick; the one who talks most about wealth prospers; those who talk most about discrimination (be it Jews or black people) are discriminated against. Nothing appears in life just like that. We attract it all. With no exceptions. To create truly positive change in our lives, we must ignore how others see us and pay more attention to what we choose to see.
And this is just a quote: "You attract what you put out. Be mindful."

I am extremely close to the Jewish kid. Nobody knew he was Jewish (on his mother’s side). Some how a kid found out and was bullying him. Threw pennies at him in front of me at a softball game I attended. The kid didn’t talk about it - I observed it.

Suffice to say it didn’t happen again after I told him in no uncertain terms what I would do to him if he did it again.

He was a 275 pound, low iq 8th grade slob.

This was an exception.

A. Doctors probably talk about illnesses more than anyone else. Are they sick more than anyone else?
B. And, this is correlation v causation. People who are sick would talk most about being sick. And, people who are discriminated against would talk most about being discriminated against...I'm not sure talking about something causes it.

This conversation needs a discussion on “Kick-a$$” kids with real disabilities who are barred from SA admission and/or Military service in general …

There is SO much potential out there …

### Ableism ###

“Ableism”is the discrimination of and social prejudice against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior. At its heart, ableism is rooted in the assumption that disabled people require 'fixing' and defines people by their disability.

I would think most disabled people would prefer that their condition be cured or ‘fixed’. Acknowledging that having a disability is unideal does not equal being disrespectful towards anyone dealing with one.

Exclusion is not ideal …

There's actually a Supreme Court case that kind of touches on that actually. Sutton v. United Airlines (1999), about pilots who were not hired because their uncorrected vision didn't meet the standards

With military service, sometimes it is. There are so many obvious examples I won’t list them.

It already is illegal to discriminate on disability except in cases where the disability would preclude the ability to perform the job. Plenty of disabled persons do serve their country in their work, defense or otherwise. And they are encouraged to enter civil service careers. DoD and other federal agencies have plenty of outstanding civilians who wouldn’t meet the medical qualifications for uniformed service. Of course there’s nothing wrong with that—who thinks there is?

At a certain point, talk about all these different “isms” has just ballooned into a big fat virtue/status signal for people who work in university administration offices and the like.

I have a different story, when a young Jewish girl insulted a black girl, only because she had a portrait of Jesus and the Virgin Mary hanging in her salon. We all have a story..... but I tried to explain it all at the quantum level. It looks like in the movie 'Back to the Future'......: your kids will understand it.

I won’t doubt your story.

I know my story is true. Which made your absolute incorrect.

The problem is the people that want to use the word systemic. That is the con.

You hit the nail on the head by acknowledging that there are challenges that people of color experience in this country and need to be addressed. That is the definition of white privilege. AND yes people in power on the left, right and middle have always used fear to control their power.
