Any appointments yet?

So today is basically the longest day ever! Haha
Wishing you all luck for good news soon!
Don't be stressed if you don't hear anything this week, or next. After Thanksgiving things will pick up. Just a little insight into the process. Each application packet is reviewed by two admissions officers. They then need to come to an agreement and a staff summary sheet is written. If they can't agree, then a third admission officer gets involved as a tie-breaker, THEN all of the completed, reviewed, and "rated" packages go to the admissions board where they are reviewed again and a determination is rendered, THEN the superintendent reviews each package for final approval, THEN notification is made. It is an arduous process. Patience is key. From what I understand it is more of a holistic approach than the other service academies. I am not in any way involved, I have just asked lots of questions about the two sons I've had apply over the past three years.

Do you happen to know if one of those admissions officers is the applicant's AO?
Yes, our understanding is that one of the people reviewing “round one” consideration is the applicant’s AO. We have also told by multiple people at the academy that there are different people who “vote” on the board for candidates and some of them are not tied to admissions directly. For example, some of the company officers (the officers who are in charge of the cadet companies) sit on the admissions board, and some people who are in admissions but not necessarily a regional AO also get to “vote” on candidates after round one during a board review.

It seems like last year the 1st appointments might have been made in person on Bears Day- which I think is today. Not positive though. Good luck to everyone! It’s a ride but we’ll worth it!!

Sooo, if we don’t hear anything today I assume we’re sweating it out until December 2nd since next week is Thanksgiving???

Looks that way. Maybe December 2, if the rumor of Friday announcements holds. If thats the case, I guess it's one of the latest years of first acceptance announcements in USCGA history. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family.

No decision today, but if it helps I received an interview request about four hours ago. Good luck to everyone.
Congratulations! 🥳 Do you remember what date you submitted your completed application and did you do AIM either virtually or in person? Thanks so much!

Thank you! I submitted my application on the 14th of October — I did not participate in AIM in either format.

The first appointment decisions were released last night and, assuming the Superintendent approves more this week, we will continue releasing decision letters on a weekly basis with all Early Action applicants being notified by December 23rd.

Hooray! Let’s hope some of those new appointees are on this forum. Let’s get the class of 2027 list going!
