I'm not sure where
@Freda'sMom acquired the information, but all Academy Admissions Partners were just notified via email that in-person AIM has been cancelled due to COVID-19. That being said, the email also states that Admissions is working to notify all attendees today in an
appropriate manner. I don't consider this forum to be the appropriate manner for AIM appointees to be notified as Admissions will no doubt include additional information in their notification mechanism but there it is.
For all those accepted to AIM, I wouldn't be surprised if you received an email of some kind in the next few hours. Please know that USCGA did not make this decision lightly, and I would
guess that this has something to do with the mission essential need to get the Class of 2024 onboard and in an effective, safe training environment with any potential risks mitigated. A quick story - I was diagnosed with H1N1 during my first swab summer, it was later reported that H1N1 arrived when the Aimsters did. Swabs are typically running around with lower immune systems due to stress, fatigue, and exposure to new people from all over the world. I know it is disappointing but try not to let yourself be too discouraged, I'm sure Admissions will coordinate an alternative event.
That being said, my heart goes out to all of you, because I still remember the excitement I felt when I was accepted to AIM in 2008. I am so sorry.
