I was thinking about AIM today, and how much I valued my time as an AIMster and AIM cadre. I know this is a difficult outcome for those selected to attend AIM this summer, but I very much feel for those rising 2/c cadets who were excited to fulfill their role as AIM cadre this summer. I'm sure there is a place for them, whether it is part of this virtual event or in training the Class of 2024, but either experience will certainly be very different than what they were anticipating. Most, if not all cadets, can't wait for their cadre summer - I believe USCGA is unique in that every single cadet will fulfill some sort of cadre role in their time at USCGA.
This change, like all others they are experiencing, will only enhance their leadership skills and ability to adapt to stress/the unknown. However, I can't help but think this (cadre) is one tradition I wouldn't have minded seeing unchanged.
