Applicant seeking some advice.

My only concern is your class ranking/GPA, think ranking goes up when you take more APs or IB? If you are 95% PSAT than you should & can have better ranking at your school. Regarding your weight? Out DS is 5 9 & weights 195 & did 4 pull ups, he needed a BMI done by Dr. before appointment to USNA. DS is a wrestler & golfer but he will try to lose weight by I-Day. Try to get your weight down cuz weight/BMI etc will hold up your application process?
Yeah, working on the weight issue. My school doesn't offer AP classes, and IB does affect class rank.

Believe it or not it is becoming very common for kids to do the CC program in some variation. For my kids the program was called jump start. 1/2 of the day they would go to the HS, the other 1/2 of the day would be at the HS.
What she said^^. It seems 7 out of 10 round themselves up (see http://www.livescience.com/26914-why-we-are-all-above-average.html ). Hence, "going to a highly competitive HS" is overused on this forum and the link I gave explained why. I am not busting anybodies chops! It's human nature unless you have low self esteem in which you unfairly round yourself down. I diverge....

Now-a-days, college in high school is extremely common. In MN, we call it "PSEO". In 2012, 21 percent participated and has been increasing since then. You can chose CC, the local Flagship U, or a few private colleges. If you are an academic stud, then you will get A's in college even if you are 16-18 years old. IMHO, being in the lower 1/2 of your class in any HS (or Flagship public college) isn't an academic stud. So the OP's GPA rank needs to rise.

He came for advice so I will give mine. A USAFA student recommend my son NOT to lift but rather work on cardio. Smart. Also, figure out a way to nail A's in your classes. You need to beat your competition. And don't worry so much about community service as much. Some is needed and call it a day. Also figure out how to be a leader in the areas you are interested in. Express interest in becoming a captain (start leading by example now so the coach sees you are a leader).

Would it be remiss of me for me to post a link to my school's profile on USnews? That's about the only online source I can find describing it.

Honestly it is not worth the time or energy to post it. Nobody here sits on the board, and if they did, they would not acknowledge it in anyway.

Your ALO and your Congressmen know how competitive your school is compared to other candidates in your geo-centric area, thus that is where at 1st it will matter the most.
