This question is about the process of the admissions board. In other words, I understand that an appointment is the goal, not an LOA. That being said...

If the board reviews your application and does not decide to give you an LOA (say for SAT scores, or some other "easily changeable" item, not "leadership"), but you are still 3Q, if you update your file is your application re-reviewed, or is your "point value" simply adjusted? And because when initially reviewed you were not eligible for an LOA, you will now not receive one regardless of qualification?

Thanks,
J

I'm not sure anybody can answer that. There is not much information out there regarding the mechanisms of how LOAs are handed out.

Three years ago, during son's CVW, I asked that question to Admissions Counselor in Leahy Hall. I was asking specifically how they treat updates...improved CFA, ACT, etc. She said they do not send your file back for further board review, they adjust your score.

I did not address the LOA part of your question and would agree with Memphis on that.

guess I have a similar question- but in this case an appointment- Say a candidate is 3Q with pres and doesn't get an appointment at this time for same reason- lower act scores. The candidate updates act scores with an score improvements. Is that candidates WPS adjusted to reflect this improvement which could now possible gain them the appointment with the nom they have? Or once they have been looked at once and not given the appointment do they not get another look until the MOC process is done and hopefully have another nom source? Has anyone out there experienced a similar situation in the past they can share?

Crair,

I spoke with an admissions officer and they said that after initial review, it is simply the WPS that is updated. Then when the nominations come out they match nominations to high scores.

I'm sure there's more to this than simply that, but in a nutshell, that's what they said.

Hope that answered your question.
