applying to SA's in college

I'm actually a current college freshman that applied to USAFA and USNA for the upcoming class of 2021. Though I felt that already completing one year of college would put me at a disadvantage for admission to the SA's, I've been pleasantly surprised! I was actually told by someone who works close with USNA admissions that they're actually looking to fill their class with more college students because they believe it will increase their retention rate (Someone who has already experienced the hardships of college being away from family etc.) I've already received my appointment to USAFA and am still CPR at Navy. It definitely has not held me back.

I know this has been mentioned in a few threads but can someone give me a little sense of how college vs. high school grades are weighted as a reapplicant? I know many second semester seniors (myself included sometimes) who are very tempted to say "I've gotten into/committed to a college so this semester doesn't matter as long as I don't fail." It's easy to slip into this mindset as graduation approaches. Obviously, this becomes a different story when plans are the reapply to the SA's. No, I won't walk away from this year with any C's or very low B's, but is getting all very high A's worth it or are college first semester grades weighted more heavily?
Have you contacted your admission counselor to go over your application asking about where you come up short yet? If not, may I ask why? It's been one week since you received the TWE. Contact them and show them your determination and ask for guidance. They want strong re-applicants as much as you want to be one. Best of luck!

I emailed my admission counselor the day after I received the TWE. No response. Even early on in the admission process, it always took a while to get a response. My BGO is relatively the same way, which I understand because they are volunteers who have lives. From what he has told me in the past though, I am a very strong candidate academically. I just wouldn't want a slip-up this semester to ruin that.

Not sure what/how you wrote that email. I recommend following up with a phone call.

I essentially said that as I begin to think about my application for next year's class at the academy, I was wondering if she had any ideas as to what parts of my application needed strengthening (aside from CFA scores). I will follow up with a phone call this week. Thank you!
