Appointee Kits are now active

Insider--For those still waiting...are there actual appointments that are still to be handed out or is that pretty much finished now?

The majority of offers are being made now. Most new appointees should be notified within the next 7 or 8 days. After that there will still be some offers to be made (but not significant numbers).

When will those that didn't get appointed be notified , I reached out to someone I know at the Academy, they took my son's name and then a hour later replied everyone would be notified of their status Mid April (based on what I'm reading here that is not the case ), so I'm confused and it has led me to believe my DS will not be getting an appointment ( is that when denials would be sent out?)

USAFA has completed the regular selections process. That means that most of the available appointments have been offered -- expect portals to update in the next day or so. For the next month USAFA will be back-filling some congressional vacancies and will be making additional prep school and Falcon Foundation offers (so there will be activity until the middle of April). After that there may be an odd offer or two, but it will be rare.

Non-select letters are generally sent after the majority of prep school and Falcon Foundation offers are complete. They are usually sent in mid-to-late April (but the timing varies).

Inquiry with the back-filling of congressional vacancies, we know a young man who left the academy last year, which possibly opens an additional spot toward the 5 our MOC can have, is appointing another nominee from that MOC slate what you mean by back-filing vacancies? Also, what we don't know is if the young man won the MOC slate last year or came from the national pool.

No, back-filling vacancies means that if a congressional winner declines his or her appointment, USAFA will revisit the slate and select a new winner. In many of the cases there is already an appointed candidate (an additional appointee) who can be tagged. In a few cases, however, a new offer may be tendered.

So basically everything is done and everyone will know by this week?

Decisions, decisions. DS still waiting too. Does not know if he needs to go ahead and move on with plan B for the AFROTC Full scholarship at this point.

New here, DS is waiting for news. Couple of questions to help my nerves please...
  • Are all acceptances notified by call from MOC?
  • What if the nominating MOC is no longer in office? Will other MOC call, or is the call skipped completely?
  • Packet / letter comes before portal update?
DS saw some activity on his portal account last week by DODMERB, just reconfirming he was a valid candidate. But nothing else as of this morning...

thanks!

Not all MOC's will call. They are given the chance to do so. Some do, some do not. Also, there will be no letter or packet. All correspondence will be by email/portal update. Sounds like your DS is still in the running ! Hang in there. We wish you and all the others the very best!

YogiMom.....DS's nominating source is now Secretary of Health and Human Services so no call....received email to check portal early one morning....good luck!

Will the prep school offers trickle out or be a mass wave like the appointments? Any specific date to expect them?
