Appointment notifications

Will the US AFA admissions office notify the cadet's congressman of the appointment prior to contacting the cadet? My son received a call from our congressman on Wednesday notifying of appointment but the portal is not updated and there has not been any contact. Thank you
 
After my DS got the call from our senator, it took a little while for it to update on the portal.
 
Yes, the Academy will usually notify the congressman first so that the office can give the candidate the good news. Often the congressional office will phone the candidate with the news.

Our MOC called about 3 weeks ago and sent us a letter naming principal nomination, but the admissions page portal still says "none" for nomination. Is there anything we are supposed to do?

I was called about a nomination 10 days ago by an MOC too and it still says "none" on my application as well. I got a letter two days ago saying that I received a nomination, so I don't think the phone call was wrong. I'd really like to know if there's something else I'm supposed to do too.
 
The only thing to do once you have a nomination is
1. Sit back and wait to see if you get an appointment
2. Continue to work on backup plans

Edit 3. Get you application done if you haven't done so, of course.

I wouldn't sweat it, I've been reading about this lot on SAF and what I've found is that each office works at an individual pace. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please, but if some time passes and it still doesn't show up, then I'd call the MOC's office just to confirm :)
