Lvg FL tomorrow with DS in midst of 3-8" snow falling in CO. Glad we didn't pack any cold weather stuff for spring break. It was usually 60-70 degree F in Jan and Feb when I checked

Oh well it has to be done! We'll be the ones in sandals . . .
 
MidWest Dad...bring a sweater! Have a safe and happy trip to the Springs.

You and me both. Flight out of Los Angeles, CA. Sunny 70 Degree to 34 Degree and Snowing.
 
And we won't be there. #3 feels that he has been there frequently enough that he does not want to miss me laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington on 5 April, which is Gold Star Wives Day. He will miss a life changing opportunity and I wish I could change his mind. He is incredibly loyal to me and his father--and has been a stalwart supporter of the Arlington Chapter of the Gold Star Wives of America since our repatriation to Washington, DC. So, you all have fun...learn lots...stay warm--and please send up a little prayer that he has the clarity of mind and knowledge he needs to embark on his USAFA journey along with your sons and daughters. I will wish he were there meeting his future classmates and getting the inside scoop. (I worry that I built up Plan B so much that it seems as if it is equal to USAFA...it is not...and no one wants to talk about it...)
 
Hebaragi...for you! No socks and sandals! You might need a sweatshirt from the gift store. Do not embarrass your future Falcon.

I am not worried about me Dr. Mom. It my DS that I am worried about. He has gone to school all his life in shorts. It will be a big surprise for him. As for me, I tend to shop much as I can at the Acadamy store. The sweatshirt will be the first thing on the list.

As for your son, I love his conviction to his belief. It would have been nice to meet with your son and shack hands with him. Hope I will get to meet him on A-Day or PW. Your family will be in my prayer.
 
Thank you Hebaragi. If it is any consolation to you and your son, my oldest (#1) arrived at West Point having lived in the tropics for most of his life (the real, far side of the world exotic sort of tropics). The good news is that they are issued clothing and told what to wear in the varies different types of weather that occur when you live in a country or location that has actual 'weather'. While he was never one much to complain, in February of his plebe year, #1 said, "I had no idea it could be this cold for this long and that it hurt." Can Colorado Springs be as bad as Hell on the Hudson?
There is no discouraging teenagers with the threat of inclement weather! Good luck. Does he own pants/slacks? That would be a good place to start...

We had to go out and get a jeans for him over the weekend. I used to live in Baltimore and I know how cold it gets. My DS will find out.
 
As Vince Lombardi told his wife when he accepted the Green Bay head coaching position: "It's a dry cold.";)
 
Truth be told DS is about 80%+ USMA by now but I cant let him make the call without the opportunity to visit USAFA. You never know !
 
We are getting the immunizations done then hitting the road for our 5.5 hour drive (on nice roads) there. See ya tomorrow.

Very well, DS has a lot to think over in the next 8 days.
Cadets and LTs on the tour were all top shelf and did a great job as did the administration staff. Timing was good as DS was just at USMA 8 days prior. Thanks to all for hosting us tourists !
