Are friends really important?

I'm talking about SAF friends. Currently, I have two WONDERFUL friends, Bruno and gojack (never met them, though!).

Do friends on SAF work the same way as friends on Facebook, where there is functionality given to "friend" status, e.g., you can grant elevated viewing privileges, etc. to your friends? If not, then what is the purpose of friends on SAF?

Good question- I don't think that there is any functionality associated with that as far as I can tell. Maybe one of the Supermods or real old timers knows the answer to this one?

There is not a lot of core functionality associated with friends. The concept can be used for functions we do not have here, such as blogs and PMs only with friends.
