Hello everyone.

My Junior daughter is working hard to get into the USNA. She was accepted at Summer Seminar. I'll use this forum to help me guide my daughter on what to focus on and I'll give back what I can.

I'm a 3rd generation former enlisted Marine and my daughter wants the Marine option. Ooh rah.

Semper Fi to you! There are many Devil Dogs on here, full of good gouge.

First tip - the term "Marine option" is generally used at NROTC, and is a very specific path. At USNA, your DD would learn to say "I want to service select Marine ground/air." A different process that won't be locked in until fall of senior (1/c) year.

You can learn a great deal by browsing and using the Search function. Read the stickies at the top of forums.

gokings814 - Thanks for the link. That helped a lot. I was just about to post a question asking what some of the TLAs meant :)

Capt MJ - Thank you for tip number one and the other tips. I saw the term "Marine option" and thought I owned it :) I have done some research on NROTC so I must have picked that term up somewhere along the way.

Thanks Steve,

We moved here in 2007 from California and absolutely love it. Now that the Cards are having some decent seasons, it's even better.
My DD is Deputy Corps Commander at AFJROTC right now and loves it but her heart is set on the USMC.

Aim High and Semper Fi.

Welcome to the site. I went to USNA and commissioned USMC a few years ago (okay more than a few but not ancient either). I am also a female, so sounds like a lot in common with DD. Let us know if you have questions!

Welcome and good luck to your DD! I am just a first generation Navy guy. My second DD said I need to find a new hobby so here I am!! :D
