After the Army / Navy game do Plebes ever rate an overnight in Philadelphia (after a Navy win of course)? If they do, are they responsible for their transportation back to Annapolis or do the buses wait and take them back the next day? We have ordered our tickets and were going to secure flights / hotel for the weekend since they fill up so quick.

This seems like an eternity away at this point, but I'm sure we'll blink and it will be here.

Thanks

If they DO get to stay, they will most likely have to make their own way back. Heck, the upperclassmen do!

Whatever you do: DRESS WARM!

Hi,

Last year the plebes were granted an overnight and if they took it they were responsible for making their own way back on Sunday (about a 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive from Phillie). However, there were buses running back to Annapolis after the game until about midnight.

Ditto on the dress warm - bring hand and foot warmers - it's a long outdoor day.

Our Plebe had a preapproved overnight in PHL. He put up a chit and it was granted. He was responsible for getting back on Sunday. He took Amtrak back.

Folks, hate to burst everyone's bubble, but there is a new Dant and will be a new Supe this year. Whether plebes are granted overnights is entirely dependent on them -- well, mostly on the Dant. The fact it happened last year, or the circumstances under which it happened last year, has almost no bearing on this year. Things could be better . . . or worse.

Also, assuming an O/N is granted, the plebe may or may not be able to take it. First, he/she must be in good standing in terms of academics, conduct, and PT. Second, he/she must not have watch/duty. Third, he/she must not feel an overwhelming need to study. Given how late A/N is played these days (right before exams, I believe), that could be an issue, which it wasn't in my day when A/N fell on Thanksgiving WE. Trust me, one O/N isn't worth not doing well on your first set of exams. And, with holiday leave coming less than two weeks later, whether to take that O/N is something to consider carefully.

As far as I know, anyone taking an O/N is responsible for his/her transportation home -- as with any O/N.
