DD awarded 4 year scholarship.
Same, didn’t know that it wasn’t ideal for everyone to submit first board.Learning on the fly. I raced to get an interview before the 1st board. Now I believe I should have waited for the 2nd board.
I had it listed as my 6th option. I have already been accepted to my top 2 schools (Liberty University & the University of North Georgia) and uploaded my LOAs to the portal. I may be interested, but I need more information about this pathway. The MJCs have a 2yr Early commissioning program, and then you go on to a 4yr school to finish your last two years with a full scholarship. That's interesting. Did you have a Jr. College in your school of intent?
Did u get this after you were already given the Boarded/UC portal message? Has your portal changed?I had it listed as my 6th option. He should go ahead and accept the scholarship and select his #1 choice school. Then, after college acceptances are received, he can request to transfer the scholarship to one of the other schools, if necessary. It’s standard operating procedure. Congratulations to him.My son just received a call from one of the three schools listed in his portal. The PMS of the program told him that he needed to choose and accept the scholarship offer for one of the schools listed within 3 weeks. I know an email will be forthcoming, but does anyone have any insights on this?
Thank you! Does this hurt his chances of gaining admission to the other two schools? He is hopeful that he can visit all three once the decision is in - there is no clear front-runner right now, he likes them all!He should go ahead and accept the scholarship and select his #1 choice school. Highly doubt it. Don’t know how the other two schools would even learn that he accepted an ROTC scholarship assigned to another school. Those are dots that just wouldn’t connect.Thank you! Does this hurt his chances of gaining admission to the other two schools?
Congratulations to all who won a scholarship on the 1st board !Just posted! 4 year to Duke, Vanderbilt or Johns Hopkins.
Yes, I got the email after my portal changed to Boarded/Under Consideration.Did you get this after being given the Boarded/UC portal message? Has your portal changed?
Okay, good to know. Thank youYes, I got the email after my portal changed to Boarded/Under Consideration.
Thank you so much for the information it is very helpful.ADVICE FOR THE 2022 AROTC SCHOLARSHIP CANDIDATES
Ok we just got finished with round 1 of 3. The bad news is that the last round may not be finished until March/April. If you have already submitted your application, nothing more you can do - trust the system. If you haven't submitted your application - see the obnoxious, bolded/all caps post at the end of this post. Lastly - Every question that you have has already been asked and answered on this forum. Take the time and use the search function - its all there.
1. If you won a scholarship - accept it, you earned it. If you win multiple scholarships, accept them all - you earned it. Many of you are applying to SAs - keep all your options open. YOU EARNED THE SCHOLARSHIP AND GET TO DECIDE IF/WHEN TO ACCEPT OR DECLINE - WAIT UNTIL THE DEADLINE TO MAKE ANY DECISIONS! In most cases (99%) you declining the scholarship does not open that slot up to another candidate. Big Army has figured this out and awards scholarships accordingly.
2. Don't stress about the schools you were awarded the scholarship to - Cadet Command is very accommodating about transfer requests. Just don't wait until the last minute. They are accommodating - but it is not a guarantee.
3. How do I accept the Scholarship? - All of the information on how to accept, decline, transfer schools - will be in the file upload section (I think that is what it is still called). You official offer letter will be there as well.
4. Will a AROTC (or any other branch) scholarship in hand help with admissions? In my opinion YES. In the case of my DS, he was awarded a 4-YR on the 1st Board and called the PMS at 2 schools that were reaches. Within 24 hours, he was accepted at both. I do know that the PMS called admissions, did it have anything to do with his acceptance - not sure...but I think it did. He ended up accepting the NROTC-MO, but I am confident that the 4-YR AROTC awarded on the 1st Board helped him getting into the 2 schools that he had not been accepted at.
5. What do I do if I don't get in to any of the schools that were on my list? - Keep Cadet Command apprised and request a transfer to the school that you choose. Although possible, multiple transfer requests may be frowned upon. Don't wait until the last minute to request a transfer, many of the popular battalions fill up and may not have any slots left.
6. (BOLDED/CAPS BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE) - THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED ON THE 2ND AND 3RD BOARDS. DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION UNTIL YOU HAVE MAXED EVERYTHING - STANDARDIZED TESTS, PFT, ESSAYS.....YOU ONLY GET VIEWED 1 TIME BY A HUMAN - AFTER THAT YOU ARE A NUMBER COMPARED TO ANOTHER NUMER - HIGHEST NUMBER GETS THE GOLDEN TICKET.
Good luck!
Last Thing - Go read all of the posts Montana State Army ROTC (won't let me link his handle) and @MohawkArmyROTC - Extremely Informative!
In reference to your No. 6 item, I had this message on my board:ADVICE FOR THE 2022 AROTC SCHOLARSHIP CANDIDATES
