Army ROTC 2022-2023 1st Board

In reference to your No. 6 item, I had this message on my board:

This applicant was boarded by our October 2022 selection board and was not selected for an offer during this round of selections. The applicant will remain eligible to compete during the January and March selections with no action required on their part. We do recommend the following to increase the applicant's chances for selection; study for and retake the SAT/ACT and/or train and retake the PFA, once completed submit the new scores using the file uploads tab of the application. Additionally, look over the activities tab and ensure all activities that the applicant is eligible to select are in fact selected.

It sounds like they are saying there are things we can do to improve our scores. Also - did everyone get this or is it tailored to things I need to work on. I thought I maxed by PFA.
I think that is a standard comm from CC sent to all non-selectees. Yes - You can improve your packet score by submitting higher standardized test scores and PFT scores. You will get a very minimal increase compared to submitting the higher scores when you submitted your original packet. Your application will never be reviewed again by a human after the 1st Board you are reviewed on. You just become a number. The highest numbers get the scholarship. This is why it is absolutely critical to wait to submit your application until you have maxed out the PFT and standardized test scores.

Yes DS's said the same message. He is off to try and increase his scores and wait until the next boards.

Yes, I got the email after my portal changed to Boarded/Under Consideration.
Were you able to get any additional
Information? It’s hard to find info, and my son received the same scholarship offer. The VFMC also sent an email (the next day) telling us he could also get free room and board in addition to free tuition. I just wonder if he declines the scholarship, it will affect his chances for the future boards. Such a hard decision.

No more information that I could find out...we got the same VFMC email...my DS does not want to go to a two-yr school. He wants to get the 4 or 3 yr scholarship...decisions!!

Had an officer interview today for the Marine NROTC Scholarship via call. Did decent. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is second board and when the officer will contact me.

There are only 2-NROTC-MO Boards. The 1st one is coming up soon and the 2nd one will be March. Your best bet in terms of status is the portal. MO is historically slow to update the portal, so your coordinator is a good source as well. How was your PFT?

Does anyone have current contact information for University of Michigan / Wolverine Battalion (Army). Their website is out of date and the contact email listed bounces.

My son just received a call from one of the three schools listed in his portal. The PMS of the program told him that he needed to choose and accept the scholarship offer for one of the schools listed within 3 weeks. I know an email will be forthcoming, but does anyone have any insights on this? He is applying EA to all 3 schools, and it seems as if having him choose right now would be defacto making him do ED at 2 schools (one does not offer ED). I had hoped he would have had time to weigh his options depending on where he gets accepted. It doesn't seem that being awarded a scholarship should force his hand.
That is one of the reasons to wait for 2nd or 3rd board. I would not decline a scholarship...I would accept and you can always transfer the scholarship (usually) later if need be.

PFT: 3-mile run: 19:32, 3:45 plank, 15 pull ups. 1170 SAT, 89 ASVAB. 3.5 GPA, 4.2 weighted, took 5 AP classes (one of them being AP Calculus BC) and taking 4 this year (one of them being AP Physics-C). Pretty average and I think I just hit the minimum. The MOS I'm going for is Mechanical Engineering. I've been in track and cross country since my junior year, won several medals. I've done a good amount of volunteer for my church. The interview went... alright. I mentioned grit and leadership in most of my responses and the officer made good remarks. Really anxious about the results

Looks good. Anyway you can bump up your SAT score? If you don't get a scholarship on the 1st Board, I would work on maxing your pull-ups and increasing your SAT score. 270 PFT is where I would set your minimum target.

I can try for second or third board?

+1 to all of @EEBTTF 's comments. You should be shooting for a SAT score close to USNA average scores. In some ways any ROTC program is more competitive than the corresponding academy, SAT scores being one of those areas.

OP - if given ANY opportunity to retake the SAT, and make a play for a higher score......DO IT.

I promise you...it CAN make a difference, for future boards.

And never turn down a chance to train, and increase fitness tests results.

You have time to do both. Take advantage of it!

Good luck to ya.

I think it is a good sign. Reading posts from previous years state that the colleges got locked before scholarship.
