Army ROTC 2023-2024 2nd Board

Question for applicants...have you had conversations with the ROOs and/or cadres at the schools you're interested in? My daughter's journey began at the university because she was already a committed athlete. Wondering if that is not the norm.

I spoke with an ROO to schedule my PMS interview, and I have talked with other ROOs at the other schools I'm interested in. My PMS interview was basically him and the ROO selling me on the school, and I've been having similar conversations with the others over the phone.

My DS interviewed with the PMS officer at his #1 school and he has talked to the ROO there as well. He is waiting to see about the national scholarship before he contacts any other ROOs.

that bums me out on the PMS interview for you - you want that to be about you and all you have to offer

Idk, I was cool with it. It seems like they knew I was a good candidate and was probably going to win a scholarship, so they wanted to sell me on the school. I just hope he had enough to write a good recommendation.

Well, the portal is still down. Originally I thought it might be back fairly quickly, but I'm growing more convinced they will keep it down until January board results are posted. I guess that eliminates the need to check the portal 5 times daily. :p

Haha! And then there's those of us checking five times a day to see if the portal is back up at all. 😂

This morning I emailed Cadet Command in charge of scholarship processing and received the following reply about the portal:

"At this time, it is unknown how long it will take for the maintenance to be completed"

Ugh!

Thanks for checking. I figured someone would do that that eventually. If there is one thing this whole process teaches, it's patience! That seems to be the common thread that runs across most posts on these forums. You just can't get the government to operate on your schedule.

Oh, and as others on the SAF like to say, WELCOME new member of one day!

My MS2 son said "welcome to the army"

Yes, my son has been very active contacting his top 5 schools, setting up zoom calls, etc. It's been very informative. And keeps him busy while we wait...

Bump. Portal still down.

Who thinks it's actually "down for maintenance?" And who thinks it's just down until they get all the January board results entered?

I think it's down until the results come out. Just my guess.

They need a maintenance page that says we are doing this for your own good. ;-)

You learn the term fast in the military. "Hurry up and wait."
