Army ROTC 2023-2024 3rd Board

Whoa! Congratulations! That is terrific.

Of course when I saw this I raced to the computer to log into the portal and see if there was any change. Message still says March board results have NOT been released, and DS still shows his 3-year AD scholarship that he received in the January board. Like several others in this thread, still holding out hope for an upgrade before all the dust settles...
That’s weird. I just assumed they were released for everyone. I remember reading this happened to someone else in the 2nd board. Not sure what the difference is. The scholarship letter just says 4-year national scholarship. I did think it was different he didn’t get a choice of schools. It was just to one school which luckily was his top choice. Hoping good wishes still for your DS!

Yeah, I remember that too. Sometimes, it seems like there is a random scholarship awarded by some method other than the normal routine. But I can't make sense of it.

I am sure that when the full board results are released, this thread will start lighting up with news. Also, for upgrades, my understanding is that is typically done AFTER the board results are posted. So, not really sure on timing, but again I am sure if people get upgrades we'll see the news here.

My DS status just changed tonight to Winner of a 4 year scholarship to his top choice school! In the 2nd board he declined the ECP scholarship hoping for a 3-year this time. So excited and saying prayers for everyone else to hear good news as well!
Each of the last 2 boards there been a surprise early winner. Congratulations! That is a heck of a jump from ECP offer to 4 year! Great to see.

Congratulations! I was also awarded the ECP second board so I rushed over to check but I’ve just been flipped to B/UC again. Currently at a 3.72 GPA, 1210 SAT with a few sports and club extracurriculars. My interview went well and I almost maxxed my fitness test, hopefully I’m in line for a 3 year at least! Congratulations again to your DS i am sure this news is amazing and well earned.

Basically same as ya except I might have fumbled by interview a little bit! My nerves got to me but the PMS was very nice and seemed to be very understanding to me! Here's to at least a 3 year!

Is the routine an email to the DS? And if so, does the portal status reflect the timing of the email sent? First timer here and just making sure how best to be aware.

OH MY!!!! My son too turned down the ECP last board. There is hope!

Hey all,

I too am playing the waiting game! Stressed and bored at the moment, was wondering if anyone can give me insight into my potential for a 3 year?

Stats are as follows:

Academics:
UW GPA: 3.38
Weighted: 3.81
7 AP classes
15 Honors classes
SAT: 1200
Mildly fluent in Mandarin
NSHSS Member

Extracurriculars:
Worked 15 hours a week at a restaurant for past 3 years
Ski team Captain at current HS
Ski team Captain at previous HS (I moved)
Club Ski team until junior year
Ski team MVP Junior and Senior year at current HS
Volunteer Church Youth Group leader for past 2 years

Interview went really well. Drove like 300 ish miles by myself to my #1 choice school, ROO emailed afterwards and said the PMS gave me full points. I asked him questions about his service in the army, how he approached leading a platoon of 43 soldiers at only 22 years old in Afghanistan, what he learned, etc. We had a really great talk overall.

I know my academic stuff is pretty weak. My interview is surely the strongest part of my application, but again I'm just wondering what my chances are for at least a 3 year AD scholarship?

I think you are in the running for an award. Your stats are solid if not spectacular but I really believe the board relies a lot on the interview notes. So nailing that is huge for you.

The waiting is the hardest part. Just stay positive and tell yourself if you don't get an offer you're going to show up on campus this fall, join the unit and work like hell.

Good luck!

Sorry, what is ECP? My DS was awarded 3 years scholarship at 2nd board w/ 3.87 unweighted GPA/ SAT 1320/ never ending sports/ 3rd degree black belt/ varsity in swimming and lacrosse/ 3 times presidential volunteer gold medals/ currently life guard & Taekwon assistant instructor. I’m really praying for upgrading to 4 years. When does the upgrading happen?

ECP is the Early Commissioning Program scholarship. You get 2 years at a military junior college and then commission as a 2LT followed by two more years to finish your bachelor's degree at the school of your choice.

It's a great program but I think generally considered a lesser option than a 4-year or 3-year offer. Arguably however it's better than a 3-yesr depending on your perspective.

As for upgrades my understanding is that any upgrades are handed out after March board results are posted. Anyone who receives an upgrade will get an email to that effect and your portal will update accordingly.
