Army ROTC 2nd Board Results!

I completely get that, understand it, and support it. However, it is wildly different than my experience at this level. It's true at Ranger School and the Q-Course, but not here (in my experience from many years ago).
@OPFOR6 - I get it now. You and I are probably close to the same age. I went through this process in 1989 and thought I knew everything when my DS said - Dad - I want to go to a Service Academy last year....... There is NOTHING similar to what you and I went through. This is not the "New" Army it is the Army of 2021 - not 1991.

Take a deep breath and try and not overthink this. This is a proven process and guys like @Montana State Army ROTC have it figured out (even though I think he went to West Point..) - he is the inside intel here. Trust the system!

I don't have any dog in the fight this year, but I'm dubious that your reasoning stands up to much scrutiny. As I understand your concern, it is that too many of the 3AD winners from the third board (and I believe that's all they offer on the third board, particularly given the math that EEBTTF set forth) will be lost to "better offers" that they will have already accepted. Consider me skeptical. While certainly good applicants (my son was a 3AD winner last year as a matter of fact), they are not on the whole as strong as the 4 year winners are. And those have all already been awarded . . . for precisely the reason you mention. So I think your concern about losing winners on the last board is overblown.
Perhaps. My first born won a 4-year on the second board a few years back. The process was neat and clean back then. Everything happened according to a published schedule and was conducted with high military precision. This year is substantially different and incongruent with my own experience as an Army Officer. So, something is likely amiss in my old humble opinion.

It is exactly true here. I’ve heard it several times from multiple Commanding Generals all within the last 3 years.

Oh it is definitely a chaotic and jumbled process. No doubt in that.

Yeah and what is your point. There is nothing normal about this year. Hell - half the damn country is online and afraid to go to Krispy Kreme for a doughnut. Stop comparing what was a few years ago to now. We will have an able war fighting force this year, next year on so on. Different from your time - yes. Less effective - No.

You and I need to grab a beer and share stories.

Something to consider is that a significant portion of the scholarships applicants also apply to SA’s, NROTC, and AFROTC scholarships. As a result, more scholarship opportunities for current cadets that are not under scholarship should those applicants receive an SA appointment or be selected for a 4 year through AFROTC and NROTC.

Results are not out yet.

This past week USACC awarded scholarships to 1,003 high school students as part of the second (of three) scholarship boards. These scholarships included 553 four-year offers and 450 three-year offers bringing the total scholarship offers for the year 1,194. Those who received four-year scholarship offers averaged a 1399 on their SATs with a 3.81 GPA.
Thanks for the data.

Not answering for @Montana State Army ROTC - My 2 cents - Good question. Of the 1194 scholarships awarded, only 450 are 3 year. Those who received four-year scholarship offers averaged a 1399 on their SATs with a 3.81 GPA. The vast majority of the remaining will be 3-yr, so that data will be available after Board 3. Based on years past, the SAT/ACT is going to be lower - in the 1250-1300 range and GPA in the 3.5 range.
Do they count unweighted GPA or Weighted GPA?

When I turn 21 I'd like to partake... or in the meantime I can have a ginger ale or something ;)
Slight diversion: My guy recently turned 21 in lockdown. I sent him a cake with a beer mug in frosting. That he couldn’t get Bc he was in rom. His brother was able to get it (out of rom). But couldn’t share it with Company mates bc of Covid.

The times we are in 🥴. He has yet to have a (legal) adult beverage...

Exciting. Good luck to everyone. One good thing is that many of you will have an extra few hours each day once the portals update and you are free from the bonds of the refresh button!:D
How does one tell if the portal has been updated?

You would need to just login to your portal and go to the Application button at the top. Then go to Selection Status and see if something has changed.

My daughter just received an email from one of her SOI battalions stating the portals will start updating today through early next week.
This is confusing though. My understanding was that portals are updated at the same time. Is this a rolling update, or is the person just saying "sometime between today and early next week there will be updates."

Sorry, I was not fully awake when I was reading the email, so I misquoted. Here is the exact quote her email stated:

“The second Army ROTC scholarship board results should start getting posted in your online application today and tomorrow. If by Wednesday of next week you do not receive an offer; unfortunately, you were not selected for the second board.”
