Anyone have any thoughts on WVU AROTC program over UDel AROTC? These are my twin DS choices ... just looking if anyone has any thoughts. (3yr AD winners)
We are one of the bluest states of MN and we found ways. Granted my blood pressure might never be the same... but it was a lesson for DS to be a problem solver and think outside the box. After 3 in a row were cancelled he knew we needed to change course and scheduled for out of state 5 hrs away. This was the ACT as that was his preference. But he also starting scheduling SAT (2 hours away!) just to be safe. We were having issues with our schools not willing to host (so they would cancel) so when a hotel showed up as a testing site he knew to schedule there for a retest. And staying in communication with the actual testing site. Just little things like that taught him a lot.I would say they held the standard. 10s of 100,000s figured out how to take the test.
! We did the same for our DS. But I do have empathy for those whose parents weren’t there to assist (for whatever reason) or didn’t have the resources to keep scheduling test dates. I’m surprised the College Board didn’t block us, we were so persistent... some kids just don’t have that kind of support. It’s been a messy year, for sure!We are one of the bluest states of MN and we found ways. Not gonna lie- glad it’s over!
Congrats on your scholarship. In previous years, winners received a very nice letter and certificate from CC. I think I have read posts from winners this year that received the BFE. Good luck.I received a four-year national scholarship and accepted it, does anyone know if I should be expecting some sort of package in the mail soon?
Winners on the second board received a package with the winner letter (same as in your portal) and the aforementioned certificate. I forget when it came, but I think it was more than a month after original notification. No additional information in the package, just a nice keepsake.I received a four-year national scholarship and accepted it, does anyone know if I should be expecting some sort of package in the mail soon?
Third board winner here, just received the package you were referring to. They're sending them out. Also, yes, they are a nice keepsake.Winners on the second board received a package with the winner letter (same as in your portal) and the aforementioned certificate. My DD was a 3rd board winner and her folio arrived today. I think the reality of it really set in when she held it that it's not a dream!Third board winner here, just received the package you were referring to. They're sending them out. Also, yes, they are a nice keepsake.

It is a different pool of money. What's the deal with the Nursing Majors?
When my daughter went through the process in 2016 there were approx 2800 awarded, 1000 4 year, her graduation year was 2020, those numbers were based on the mission for 2020, which meant the approximate number of 2LTs (plus WP) needed in 2020. If the projection is down for 2025, then it would make sense that the number of scholarships would also be down, so that is a potential reason.I appreciate the response. Is this a new known set of numbers, or is that what they just ended up awarding this year? The University of North Georgia web site says, "For the academic year 2018-2019, more than 7,000 high school senior applications for the scholarship were reviewed. About 3,000 applicants were awarded a scholarship. About 25% of those were 4-year scholarships and 75% were 3-year scholarships."

I've also never seen a statistical profile of last year's winners. For the year before I remember seeing a profile that appeared to have been leaked on reddit, which appeared to reflect 4-year winners, but that wasn't clear. And I know Cadet Command published in a briefing that was on the amcsus web site a year or two ago some data that showed how 4-year winners compared favorably with WP cadets. In any event, I don't doubt that cadre get the data, but my distinct impression is that it tends not to filter out from there or be publicized, for example on the Cadet Command web site.
Again, I appreciate the response.
Do you have any information on how many people applied for nursing slots this year and/or how many 3 and 4 year nursing scholarships were awarded? We did take your advice on selecting a school that has guaranteed nursing slots so that there will not be any issues with having to transfer later. Each board had nursing majors and are rewarded specifically for nurses
My daughter received a nursing scholarship in 2016 and we still to this day never heard the numbers for that year for nurses while line scholarships was around 2800. Although sometimes it is published how many commission, and it is usually between a hundred and a few hundred, which would make me think scholarships would be similar per year but that is just my deduction. It is always based on the mission of needed 2LTs in 4 years.Do you have any information on how many people applied for nursing slots this year and/or how many 3 and 4 year nursing scholarships were awarded? Son was a winner on the 3rd Board, and his cert came on Saturday, via USPS.DS was a winner on the 3rd board and received the certificate Friday.
I bet yours eats like mine. I can hear him prowling for food at midnight.Son was a winner on the 3rd Board, and his cert came on Saturday, via USPS.
Now he can't remember where he put it.
(Probably in the fridge. Most of his time is spent there.)
I've already committed to a school (Citadel) and hope to do AROTC there if not from a national level at least at the school It just seems weird to not have heard anything this longI have been looking for info on 3rd board decisions it seems like some people have got it but when I check the site it says under consideration still is there a reason for this? Will they notify me if I'm not selected on the previous boards they told me I was deferred promptly.
