Hey everyone,

I just got an email from Cadet Command that my three year Army scholarship I was awarded in the last board was changed to a four year. Is this something that just happens? Also it says specifically it is for a certain college, so if I ended up switching my primary school of interest, would I still get the four year?

My DS just got upgraded also. Attached letter says it’s only for that school. If you switch schools they have to reevaluate.

Yes, it happens. Happened to DS a couple years ago, and you can indeed request to transfer the award to another school on your list, which DS successfully did.

Seems that Cadet Command “holds back” some four-year awards to see how the third round shakes out. So for a few lucky ones, that extra year does get added. A very nice bonus.

I have heard that the school ROTC personnel can possibly upgrade a 3 yr to a 4 yr scholarship. Have talked to two schools that have said they can possibly bump up to 3.5 yr. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any idea on the chances of getting the bump?

My son’s battalion offered several of the 3 years upgrades to 3.5 years, unfortunately he was still under waiver review so he was not able to take advantage of that offer. He’ll be contracting next year for his 3 year.
