I'm not sure -- does anyone know?
My son is an MSIV. He has a new PMS, the battalion is not the same one he joined as a freshman. Not better, not worse, just different. The MSIII's and IV's set the tone for the battalion, so there is some variety and that will change every year. Your DS/DD will not graduate with the same PMS they start with, they usually stay around 3 years. Your DS/DD should pick the school with the best program/major and where they think they can be successful. Others have advised to pick a school that one can afford if one's child loses the scholarship. Sad but this happens. If you insist on a metric for AROTC pick the school with the best HR, that way stipend, tuition, fees etc. are paid in a timely way ( I think that's impossible to evaluate ahead of time. DS got lucky HR is awesome for his battalion). For those of you who have gone through this before, do you have any particular advice about what to consider when making the decision about a ROTC program (other than the obvious such as making sure you like the school as well)?

Don't know how much it varies. Some schools give credit for the Military or Naval Science classes, some do not. Some schools have only recently allowed ROTC any presence on their campus so it's not clear (to me) yet just how friendly they are. Thanks for the good advice! Another question - are some schools and school administrations more "ROTC-friendly" than others... Is that something that varies a lot, do you know?
Some great news for DS re: West Point - today he received a letter from his Congressman, telling him that he has a nomination coming, from another source. Since they coordinate, it must be from our Senator - he's thrilled!
Congrats to all, it is tradition to start a running list of winners to include screen name, DD/DS, 3 or 4 yr and schools
