Hi, I am a high school senior applying for an Army ROTC scholarship. About the physical fitness assessment required for the application:
Could anyone confirm whether or not the exact numbers on this test generate a score that is one factor in determining who gets a scholarship? I had thought that it did from previous readings on this forum, although I recently visited some of my top colleges and spoke to the ROOs and/or other ROTC cadre at each school, and they all said something to the effect of it just giving the board an idea of where I stand physically and whether I'd be able to pass the real Army PFT, rather than actually receiving a exact score on the exact number of push-ups etc. If I have a bit below average physical scores will I be affected in the selection process much, as long as I have scores that aren't terrible?
I know this is impossible to say for certain, but would anyone mind looking at my most recent practice test scores and giving input on whether these would prevent me from receiving a 4-year? I do have very high academic test scores so I am hoping they'll balance out low physical test scores.
(17 y/o male):
30 push-ups in 1 minute
65 sit-ups in 1 minute
7:02 mile time
Also, does anyone know if the coach administering the PFA must do anything after the test is completed, or if there is any reason the test must be completed much before the document submission deadline? Can I just upload the PFA scorecard immediately after the test? I am currently planning on completing it in the first few days of October so I can make sure it's in on time for the October 7th deadline. Ideally I'd like to postpone taking it as long as possible so I can continue to improve my scores. Is there any reason I would need to complete it before then, to make sure I can be boarded on time?
Thank you so much for your time.
