AROTC Scholarship Application question

My application has been boarded and is currently under consideration. I think my credentials are pretty solid:
  • 11 varsity letters in 3 sports (by time I graduate)
  • State Championship in hockey
  • Captain of lacrosse team
  • Won an academic State Championship
  • Student Peer mentor (to underclassman)
  • Tons of volunteer work
  • Good scores on the physical fitness test
  • PMS told me I had an excellent interview. (In fact, asked me to apply to his school)
  • Really good letters of recommendation
  • 1100 on SAT
  • 3.2 GPA (at time application was submitted)
I know that my GPA is a bit light. However, I just had a really good semester and my GPA is going to go up (possibly by a point or 2). My question is this - if I am not selected for a scholarship at this Board can I update my application with a new transcript showing my GPA in advance of the next Board? Thanks in advance for your guidance.

As you mention your GPA is a bit weak. I hope it does come up as you expect. Your SAT score is also quite weak unless that's a typo. However, they look at the whole person so perhaps the other aspects of your application can overcome the weaknesses.

You are fortunate that Army gives out the most scholarships, so you may be still in the hunt.

However even if you don't receive one, you should still enroll in ROTC as a non-contracted cadet and compete for a campus based scholarship. My DS received a 3 year campus AROTC scholarship while he was a freshman and it was upgraded to 3.5 years. The key is to get good grades as a freshman and be in very good shape physically.

Thank you both for the response. I hope you don't mind answering one more question - am I allowed to update my package with the new GPA?

Here is an old thread on the topic of submitting an improved SAT score.

I would imagine that you can contact Cadet Command and mail them an updated sealed transcript for consideration on the next board.

Hopefully, @clarksonarmy or @BAMA ROTC can chime in as they are authorities on this type of thing.

You can update for the second board. We asked the same question to our ROTC rep
