DS is an MS4, finishing up his senior year. However, since he is an engineering major, he will require one extra semester in order to complete his degree. His 104R since his freshman year has ALWAYS reflected this extra semester, and has always been approved by the PMS. As such, I was always under the impression that the 9th semester was approved. He was informed by the BN Admin staff a couple of weeks ago that keeping the scholarship is not automatic, but that they had to apply to Cadet Command for an extension of his scholarship. I'm hoping that this is routine and nothing to worry about, but it would be quite a hardship if his scholarship was not extended to cover this final semester. Anyone familiar with this extension request process at Cadet Command? Is this a routine circumstance that I can stop worrying about? Thanks

From what I've seen in our det. it is pretty routine. For tech majors like engineering it is almost a given that they will be in school 5 years.

Remember that AF and Army operate differently.

For AROTC it is pretty standard that a request needs to be submitted.

It might be an issue. We have all been informed that paperwork like that should be in before you go to CLC or whatever the Summer training Junior year is called now. Either the battalion cadre has not been doing their job, or more than likely your DS has just been assuming that things would pan out.
