Hi! I'm a high school junior who's looking into the service academies but is heavily considering going the ROTC route at a military college as well. I know there's a requirement for a physical fitness assessment. Who is authorized to administer/proctor the assessment? I've seen on some threads that usually the PE teachers/coaches at your school can do it, but I'm looking for a more definitive answer as there could be misunderstandings when people are not talking about the same things. Thank you!

There will be specific instructions about the assessment in your portal. I believe for Army it was any adult with a solid grasp of exercise form.

I typically have my students use the same person that administered the CFA for them, if possible. Usually, it is a high school PE teacher / coach. JROTC instructors will administer it too. Now is the time to prepare for the PFA (and CFA). Here is a URL for the scorecard with some short instructions . . .

Hi! Thank you for your response! I did manage to find the pdf for the scorecard, but I wasn't sure who could administer. Most sources I've seen say it could just be a PE teacher, so thanks for the confirmation.

Thank you for the response! I believe that there will be instructions in the portal, but since the Army ROTC hasn't opened its applications yet for the next school year, I can't really access information from that source. I also feel that it's safer that I start preparing now instead of waiting till June.

Well, one can always start prepping for the regular Army PFT test between now and June, which should leave you in good shape for the assessment. You'll need to pass the regular Army PFT for ROTC or the Academy anyway, once you get there.

What test do they take when they arrive on campus with an ROTC scholarship? The ACFT or the PFT?

Anyone can administer the test. We are homeschoolers and a friend, who does physical training, did my daughter's test. No issues.
