Hello Everyone,

There have been a few posts and questions from others regarding transfers which I have read. I have also more importantly read the AROTC additional information section which highlights and answers questions regarding transfers and decisions. However my situation is a tad different but I hope someone is able to answer it.

So I got waitlisted from my top school (George Washington) which I received an offer from and will ask for a transfer to my second choice (American University) where I did not receive a offer. I have gotten accepted into American and think that instead of testing fate with waiting for GW to respond yet again with their decision, I should simply ask CC for a scholarship transfer and hope that they grant it. However I am curious as to if in the event CC accepts my transfer to my second choice but I later learn that my top school ultimately accepted me, am I allowed to request another transfer back to my top choice? And in the event Cadet Command says no to my transfer and I get rejected from GW, will I still be able to accept my offer to a different school that I received admission too and a offer as well. Like even after the 30 days are up? Sorry if this maybe confusing.

As Montana State said, you need to accept at school offered within 30 days. Do not wait. When you accept to at (or another school offered by CC), you can request a transfer to American. If you ultimately get in from GW's waitlist, you can request to transfer it back. Obviously, no guarantees at that point, but as long as you accept the scholarship within 30 days, the only deadline to request a transfer is the start of school in the Fall.

This is very helpful and gave me good clarity on what to do. I think I will ask for a transfer soon as I accept the scholarship within these 30 days. And if I do get accepted into GW, I'll ask for transfer yet again as you stated. Thank you for the overall information and advice.

Wouldn't hurt to wait until 5-7 days before the clock runs out on the original 30 days and keep it in your pocket, maybe your number will be called by GW before you have to decide, saves that double-switching process.

Yes sir I spoke with the battalion there on the phone and they advised me to do the same thing. Thank you

I don't think GWU has AFROTC so chances are whatever school you attend in the Washington Consortium (GWU, Howard, American, Georgetown) it's likely the same AFROTC battalion. While not speaking from experience, I wouldn't think the transfer would be that hard.
