AROTC Transfer Approvals?

DS submitted his transfer request a few days after accepting the scholarship from the second board. E hasn't heard anything. I think I remember the paperwork said they would announce by April 20. Has anyone heard anything yet? If so what board were you offered a scholarship on?

Thanks for the response. But hmmmm. DS request letter was posted on 7 March and he hasn't heard anything.

It may depend on the circumstances. If your son is requesting to a popular school or trying to transfer a 4'year it may take a little longer

As I recall , submitting the request earlier does not mean you get an earlier answer. You will hear by the date listed on the letter. Yes it comes down to the wire for when that deposit is due. Has your DS been in contact with the school he wants? That helped us.
My son was a first board awardee and then submitted a transfer request. The ROO at his desired school was wonderful at communicating with DS through months of waiting.

DS is in the same situation, and hoping for some (good) news soon. Submitted a 4 year transfer request shortly after 1st board, after getting accepted to a school that he determined would be a better fit academically than the one he was awarded to. Also had a great meeting with the PMS and cadre at the receiving school. ROO at receiving school confirmed they would have a spot for him, and seemed to think it might help that the cost of attending original school is about the same as the receiving school. Just re-read award letter regarding transfers, and it states "ALL decisions will be made after 15 April, with a target notification date of no later than 6 May, 2017." Deadline for DS to accept admission and pay deposit at receiving school is 1 May. Tom Petty really had it right about the waiting being the hardest part...

Thanks for this response. Yeah the May 6th date on the letter had me a bit stressed. That's pretty useless at that point. You would think they would understand the deadlines by the colleges....

DD put in her transfer request right after second board and got back approval beginning of this week so they are starting to process them.

Contacted DS' assigned scholarship processsor at Cadet Command about notification process, and he replied: 'Keep an eye on your "File Upload" tab as they will email you and upload their decision under, "Decision on Request to Change School" when completed. Normally, most transfers are approved but we CANNOT GUARANTEE that every transfer request can be honored.'

My DD was 2nd board winner for AROTC, put in her request March 8th, just saw the change to her desired school on her portal today.
