Ask a doolie!

What was the worst part of BCT for you? Waking up at 4:30? Carrying the rifle to Jacks? Standing for hours on end with no break? Getting yelled at by Stinson? Just curious what your worst experience was?

Having people tell me what to do when I personally had no respect for them due to their lack of compassion for me and my squadmates. When you feel like your leadership cares then doing that stuff isn't so bad because you know they have a reason behind it. When you feel like your leadership just wants to beat you down everyday then it really gets annoying and unbearable.

Hi again, and thank you for the answers on this thread, they are very well put. I would like to ask how the Prior Enlisted got along with the other prep schoolers. Did they tend to stick to themselves, or were there any noticeable differences in how they were treated? I assume not, since the Prep school is so used to them.

Honestly the priors do seem stand-offish since we are fresh out of high school but honestly by the end of the year, everyone had their own groups which consisted of directs and priors. Of coarse, most of them are old enough to drink and talk about the "real air force" so there's always that disconnect but most of them are open to get to know the directs.

Do you think that will be part of the changes the Commandant is looking to bring to training? Is that comment more related to senior cadets running BCT?

I do think it will help since Cadet cadre's aren't allowed to just "do what they want". Most incidents kept happening because they were unsupervised in certain aspects. But from what I hear, this basic is going to more organized in the sense, squadrons aren't just doing rifle runs when they feel like it or unnecessary PT. Its hard to say, but hopefully the cadets that interview to be a cadre have the Comm's view parallel to their own. The enlisted and officers are usually helping with BCT in the background, so they rarely interact with the basics so the comment was directed towards more to the cadets.
