Athletes arrive before I-Day?

My DS coach mentioned he will likely arrive early, before I-Day. Does anyone have information on pre-Plebe Summer training?

Btw, this newbie USNA mom is incredibly grateful for all you wonderful people providing information about Plebe Summer, I-Day, PPW. Thank you!

Unless something has recently changed, I'm not aware of any plebes other than prior enlisted and NAPSters who are required to arrive prior to I-Day.

The day before I Day most sports teams host a reception in the afternoon for the new Plebes. It’s a chance for the new Plebes and their parents to meet one another. It also allows them to drop off equipment if needed. Overall a chance to get out some nerves and realize you aren’t alone. Never heard of a team to report before that. Fall sports don’t start training until August. As mentioned NAPS and Priors report the day before I Day.

One of our neighbors is a varsity coach, and he hosts an open house for the plebe recruits and families - mutual introductions, drop off gear, hit his pool and work off some nerves with new teammates, the grill going non-stop.

Capt MJ and NavyHoops hit it spot on. Our DS was a swimmer and dropped off equipment and got to meet teammates for the first time. Also got to meet detailers that would be teammates. Parents also got to meet the coaches and fellow parents to start that bond. Ours was at the O-rep residence on the yard. Enjoy the experience.

What @NavyHoops said...a gathering the night before. Ours was on the Yard. It was very cool for DS to meet a couple people from his company. And we enjoyed meeting other class parents!
