Bad test scores

Hey guys, I'm reapplying to the class of 2023. I'm going to prep school and I just finished the IB program at my local high school. I got my diploma but just barely. I was surprised and I heard that this year they changed the grading system. Nonetheless will less than desirable IB test scores break my application? Could I compensate with the SAT/ACT?

Rimon76, your details are pretty vague. But think of it this way: The application is a set of moving parts that add up to a Whole Candidate Score. Any weakness in one area can be offset (to varying degrees) by a strength elsewhere. And vice-versa. Academics are given the greatest weight, and within that, your high school record and test scores can compensate for each other.

That said, probably safe to say that if you barely got your diploma, an awful lot is resting on your test scores (and other components of your application, such as leadership and athletics). Best wishes to you.
