Its that time of year again, time to buy some boots.

I know this question is asked every year, but the boot market changes every year.

I was looking into the

"NIKE 8" SFB Gen 2 Boots"

A couple folks had recommended these to me. As far as I know they are compliant with the boot regulations (provided you buy them in coyote brown).
Has anyone recently bought them? I trust Nike a lot, and though I am an avid hiker, I usually wear trail running shoes instead of boots, so my boot knowledge is quite lacking.

Id also like to use this thread as more boot recommendations, not just the ones mentioned in the Appointee Booklet.

I bought and used these boots for basic. Although there is a little wear and tear on the part of the heel that touches the other boot at attention (from doing drill movements), I still use them and they've held up well. They are very light weight, which was great during BCT. That being said, I used the issued boots for the assault course, so I can't speak to how they would hold up in that situation.

Yeah the three most common boots you see here are the Nikes, the Rockys, and the Danners. Any compliant boot from those three companies are going to hold up just fine during basic and they'll last long after. SFB Gen 2 is a great choice.

DS bought the Merrells and he is very happy with them. Wore them all thru Doolie year and replaced them at xmas. DD is trying to find boots now. Not too many to choose from for women. Already the Nike's are a no. We shall see which ones she goes with.

Are cadets still using the Oakley light assault 2 boots? I saw that one recommended often in an older thread.

Same situation as you DD. Went on base to check and I found a whole one shoe lol. As a runner, I personally rule Nike's out when I go shopping. The fit and where the test the shoes affect what I buy. Hope she finds a good pair.

Danner makes a boot specifically for women. It was the only boot DD could find in stock that fit her tiny feet. She ordered a few pairs for sizing and returned what she didn't need. They were great with returns too!

Anyone heard of the Lowa Zephyr Hi TF boots? Heard special forces wear them and it feels extremely comfortable. It’s quite pricey though.

I'm wearing them as we speak, super comfortable and light, however probably not the best choice for jack's valley as water probably would screw them up. I had a heavier, thicker, waterproof boot during basic and that was a good idea.

I second Danners. I have the Danner Tachyon (women's) boots that replaced my Rocky C4 boots when I switched to OCPs before Rocky started making coyote brown. Super comfortable, I frequently jog in from the parking lot in them trying to not be late for meetings (lol) and can attest that they are nearly as comfortable as my tennis shoes even when running as long as you get the size right and figure out a good way to tie them. They are holding up great and are on the cheaper side for boots anyway
