BCT Squadron Assignments!

We were told that every 10 years or so the social dynamic of a squadron changes. Freshman are better off changing squads after 3* year.
A couple years ago they were supposedly better off changing squads after 4* year.
A factor they considered was performance during 4* year, permanent party didn't want high achievers to start from scratch the next year or under achievers getting a fresh start.

As with most things, some people were supportive or resentful of the decision, but either way we just have to accept was it given to us.

Squadron assignment

Flying Tigers! But the true test of a good squadron is how long they let you sleep in on I day lol.

Good luck, all of you soon-to-be Basics! But GET OFF YOUR COMPUTERS and enjoy your last few days at home with your friends and family. Don't worry about what's coming up too much. From what my DD told me, the mental, emotional and physical onslaught is not really something that you can totally prepare for in the last few days at home, so enjoy, eat alot and take care of yourselves!

And I think PP doesn't understand how the cadet dynamic works (shocker!)

All the high performers in my 4 dig squadron went on to continue being very successful after. What's sad, is that performance seemed to hinge most on who could do the most push-ups in a training session, not the whole person. Personally, I wasn't the strongest at PT and the class above me (3 digs) did not like me at all. My firsties thought highly of me, but they wouldn't be there the next year. Going to a new squadron was a way to prove myself ALL-AROUND rather than just my PT ability. I would not have done well staying in my 4 dig squadron and was very successful later. The notion the PP may have that I would have done "better" knowing I was staying or that upper class would have trained us "better" cause we were staying around is so silly. That had NO influence on how we trained or were trained and is a bizarre idea.

Sure, I'm biased to the 1/3 system, but no one I've talked to thinks it is a good idea going to 2/2. The fresh start is so important on many levels. We don't treat 4 digs as friends and suddenly we need to incorporate them as friends and trainers is a hard mindset to suddenly switch when they stay. The switch allows for fresh blood and makes the integration easier, IMO.

I could rant all over on this one, but I still hold the 1/3 is far better than 2/2. The early 2000s grads seem to agree for those I talked to about it.

...

So here we (training and mte officers) were in a prebriefing for Polaris Warrior (fancier name but same concept as comm's challenge). The CIC of this relevant and applicable training exercise told us that the consensus among the officer's up in the commandant's tower was that cadets didn't care about PW. Those of us in the audience had no idea how they came up with such an opinion!!!

But back to the topic on hand, I very much agree with what you have to say. I was just trying give the basic arguments you'd hear in BS310 about why to potentially do each. IMO, the current system 1 year - 3 year system was functioning just fine.

I just got the distro of the basics for this summer. The cadre are anxious for y'all to get here as we wrap up our first period programs. Enjoy your last few days with your family and friends, and I mean that sincerely. At this point, worrying about what is to come won't do you any good. Enjoy the time you have left, just don't get hurt!:thumb:

No squadron assignment in portal yet?

Has anyone else not received an updated report time with their squadron assignment yet? Have official travel orders from May for 0700, but nothing else yet??!
