Hey everyone, I have my BGO interview in two days. I had my NROTC interview back in August. Are the two interviews similar? If you have any advice to give, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

As a BGO and Area Coordinator, I recommend the following:

1. Show up on time.
2. Dress for success
3. Look the BGO in the eye.
4. Ask questions.
5. Talk about yourself. No one knows you better than you. Don't be shy, but don't be cocky either.
6. Tell the BGOs things that are not in your application package already.
7. If, for some reason, your parents are present, do NOT let them speak for you. If you are asked the question, YOU should answer it.
8. Know USNA before you get there. Be familiar with the web site. Very familiar.

Good luck!

I would add to the above excellent advice the following:

1. Use the word "like" only as a simile or as a synonym for "value" or "love."
2. Do not assume that just b/c you attended NASS or CVW that you know more about USNA than your BGO.
3. Do not denigrate other services or SAs -- and it's OK to say you are also applying to another SA. We all serve our country.
4. Bring a copy of your "resume" -- the BGO doesn't have access to it and seeing it is helpful.
