Blue berets for firsties

What is the tradition for the seniors to wear the blue beret and some training staff wearing the blue beret

Not sure if there is a tradition behind it, but all firsties wear blue berets in ABU's. In addition, BCT cadre (2 degs and firsties) wear blue berets in blues and ABU's while working BCT.

They look cool, and that's what you do when your a firstie.
