Bribery scandal hits Service Academies

This is not a reputable article. Looks like fake news to me. Does not even make sense.

If only bribery would have worked... ;)
I lived at the academy, my neighbors were all the 0-6's at USAFA...
(the guy across the street was the Director of Admissions/Registrar)

Smiles, mowing lawns, and being a generally nice kid....that didn't work.

Never thought of bribery...

“I mean, we’ll enroll anyone with a line of credit or access to tuition assistance money. I took the bribe of course. It only had a few dollars covered in grease and glitter that probably came from a local strip club.”

Classic.

The recent scandal involves proctor's accepting bribes and changing answers on SAT/ACT test. So it really doesn't seem out of the "realm of possible" that you could cheat your way into an SA. I don't even think a Nomination would be difficult.....considering any large contribution to an election fund is legal and tax deductible. if you have connections, such as the hedge fund managers who were involved, even easier. I think the probability is very low, but it does exist. We have enough other scandals to keep us humble.

^^^Per the satiric article (Parents Bribe Service Academies to not Accept Their Children's Applications), my post was meant to imply “If only bribery would have worked...” to convince the academies to not appoint our son.

I knew that.
