C/O 2019 Mailbox Stalkers

Second time applying was obviously not a good luck charm for me haha. TWE today. Its whatever, wasn't meant to be, God has bigger and better plans for me. Also, for what I want to do, I have a better chance enlisting after college to try and get a SEAL or SWCC contract. Getting a SEAL officer billet is extremely hard and with all the books that I own and have read about SEALS (roughly 25, thats how dedicated I am to learn more and more) Officers say that if they could have done it all over again they would enlist because as officers if you become a SEAL you only get 2-3 combat deployments then are stuck at a desk planning missions, I would rather see combat haha as odd as that may seem. I mean who doesn't want action, thats why I want to be in the military hahaha. But good luck to everybody else waiting!
Oh my Gosh! Great dedication on your part and I WISH the 2nd round had been the charm round for you. I'm so sorry---you sound like an incredible person. [I do not want to go home today and watch my DS go to the mailbox.]

Thank you, Good Luck to your son, hope he gets it!

Good luck AspiringSEAL! My DD is the same way with the USMC. Her bedroom wall is not covered with posters of Justin Beiber or any other pop idol of the moment. Her wall is covered with USMC memorabilia of all kinds, including an autographed picture of the now retired Commandant Amos.... Alas, we are still waiting........

My wonderful gifted smart, dedicated, driven, loving son got the news from his BGO that he is not getting an appt. None of his guys are here on Long Island. So sad. My heart hurts for him, but he is a great driven kid and will forge ahead. PLAN B is a great college, partial scholarship, apply to NROTC Unit. He will move ahead. God does not close one door without throwing open several others!
Painful to see him work so hard and not get this..............ALL these kids are special here....willing to dedicate their life to our country when others are so unmotivated and lazy...............God Bless them all and Good LUCK!!!!

To you young people NEVER Give up.........keep going forward, these life lessons will ALL pay off,BELIEVE!!!

Received nothing yet here either in GA-11.....would call MOC and Senator, but both retired..... NROTC won't say, instead telling his nom(s)/recommendations to "let him know" if they get in...... Sigh...

Just read on another thread all 1300 appointments are completed and all waitlisters were emailed yesterday. DS received neither, so bracing for the TWE to arrive. We are done mailbox stalking. Good luck to everyone else. God bless everyone this Easter weekend.

Foundation for certain & I believe Naps final review board meets the week of 4/13 where most of the 250 Midshipman candidates will be offered appointment, so I find it hard to believe all appointments have gone out. If you haven't received a TWE you're still in this, period!

I hope what you are saying is true!

It's been about a week since DS received his TWE. So stalking has basically ended. Very sad. He was down but not out. Whole family feels this. Fortunately he has a very solid option for alternate plan A. Still technically "in the game" for USMA and USAFA, however the reality is that the odds are very low at this point. He says he's more determined now than ever regarding reapplication. We support him whichever direction he chooses.

I'm posting to basically say thank you to all the posters for sharing info and experience--it's been very helpful. Also I laughed and cried frequently while reading these forums. (Coworkers wonder what the h--- is wrong with me.)

Hopefully I can rejoin you all on the "roller-coaster" thread for next year. I've enjoyed it. Thank you all.

What exactly is an alternate plan A?

That said, if your DS/DD was 3Q and in the national pool, NAPS/Foundation boards won't apply to them as those are for candidates not qualified for direct appointment. I was just told this by a very knowledgeable BGO who knows way more about any of this than I do.

I think the general consensus is that there might be a few MOC slates that have not been settled yet, but unless you are in the running for one of those, then your only hope is the waitlist at this point. They have made enough offers to fill the class, if they get the acceptances that they expect. If this is a good year, then a few people will get in off the waitlist. I don't have much info on NAPS etc, but it sounds like if you are 3Qd, have an nomination, and know that the primary nomination off your slate has already been chosen (as most have), that your odds at this point are extremely, extremely, low of being accepted to the USNA this year.
