Cadet Conduct

Adults? It usually adults who make a mess of things. Two 16 year old date, hopefully have a good time, eventually split up and go their separate ways. Two adults date, have a good time, eventually split and if someone gets hurt, the accusations start flying. Based on what is happening on campuses, its for the protection of the males students. There have been guys accused of rape and other sexual crimes where the police find absolutely no crime was committed and the student still gets kicked out of college. The other side of the this is you dont want an older 21/22 male with authority taking advantage of a 18 year old female or even worse committing a crime against her. If we all had common sense, we wouldnt need these rules. Unfortunately, no said people have common sense

Why would you think that? Presumably they're all adults.

Oh good god. It's a military ball. Y'all are putting way too much effort into making this a problem.

Should I assume you left ROTC in the tail lights, better yet the rotor wash?

Congrats on the upcoming anniversary.

Yes. I was actually on a 4 year scholarship and submitted paperwork 7 times to change majors. They kept telling me no. So... we agreed to disagree and I left after that first year, much to my parents' dismay. It's worked out well though... still married to the same guy... I ultimately got a degree in the field I wanted... and now our oldest may be in the same unit at the same school in the fall... hopefully on scholarship!

I have a scandal...you ready? I met my husband in AROTC, he was 2 years ahead of me. He commissioned, I got hurt at airborne school, knee surgery, couldn't commission, finished my degree and enlisted. We both ended up at the same post, different units though. Got married. This was back in the dark ages though, as long as you were in entirely different commands it was legal. Still frowned upon by the people who demand to care about everyone else's business, but perfectly legal.

I wasn't referring to the ball. I was referring to the person who mentioned they were adults as if that meant anything

Yes, that was me. My original point still stands. "They" don't care if a freshman dates a senior. "They" aren't trying to keep anyone from dating anyone. It's fine if an 18 yr old dates a 22 yr old. To use @KeyzCat 's example of her 16? year old son who is a freshman cadet, neither AUM or even the state of Alabama cares that he's dating a 20yr old. Read the statutes.

I'm not interested in hypothetical relationships, breakups or sex crimes, or who can or can't manage a date for one night to the military ball. The point is, yes, cadets are presumed to be responsible adults.
