I was dreading Indoc and saying goodbye & good luck to our oldest son who is now in 4th company, but I am amazed at how calm and accepting I have been of the new chapter in our son's life. I have actually even wondered why the heck I am not freaking out! (Don't worry, I still check online for pictures, watch the web cam at lunch, and write lots of "support" letters)
A wise fellow KP dad (marineopsdad) made a very good point that has set my nerves at ease....where else would I know what my freshman son is doing and where he is at all times. Wow! what amazing peace! I knew he had to "go" start a new life this year, somewhere, the Academy makes it a controlled (nerve racking for him I am sure) transition.
He is 18 now, I hope to God we have done our best to raise him to make good independent decisions, and he knows we are all pulling for him....so does the USPS and my empty wallet from buying stamps!
Here's to the 2013 cadets and the bright futures ahead of them!:
Looking forward to meeting many of you at Parents weekend.
