Can I validate AP Art History?

I looked on the website and saw nothing about specifically validating a course through scoring well on the AP exam. Should I email admissions or just not worry?

USNA’s website clearly shows which courses can be validated. Many are validated via test taken once you’re there. Some are validated via AP scores. If you don’t see a class there, safe to say you can’t validate it. Not worth contacting USNA about it.

Thanks for the chortle.

I wouldn't worry. It's not healthy. There will be other courses to try and validate plebe summer. And there will be many more courses during AC year to worry about. You will come to understand the "chiaroscuro" of academics at USNA. Hope you can make it to the Uffizi or Bargello in Florence one day. Good luck!

I would contact admissions and see if you can substitute Art History for Naval History and validate it.
LOL and I really mean it!

The two aren't even REMOTELY comparable at the NAVAL Academy for a NAVAL Officer

Lmao I was joking.

The one class my son hated plebe academic year was naval history. ;)

I learned the word “chiaroscuro” when I took art history as a college senior. I initially had little interest in the topic — just there because I had a crush on a girl who was taking it. I ended having more interest in the class than the girl had in me. 😏

Decades later, there I was at Musee d’Orsay, admiring the chiaroscuro and feeling thankful that I took art history. 😙

Since others are having fun...

Step 1: Go here
Step 2: Control-F
Step 3: Type in 'art'
Step 4: No results
Step 5: Carry on smartly

Tell him that he is lucky that it is just one semester.
It used to be TWO semesters and the earlier edition of the textbook was more than double the current size. The original
author, EB Potter was still teaching and the two semester courses were boring and difficult to many.

Firstly, it’s a moot point unless one has an appointment accepted (I don’t see an appointment listed anywhere).

Everything needed to know, about deadlines, how to video your pull ups, when they are due, what AP’s are considered, is all spelled out. In instructions, and on websites. Don’t bother admissions/RC’s, etc with such things. They are pretty busy.

I was simply wondering if it was a credit that I could validate or not. I’m putting in a ton of work into that class as well as AP micro, macro, and government to meet the scores required for validation.

I don’t see the value of adding in sarcastic comments to someone who wants to get the best start they can before they attend USNA.

Curious, have you accepted your USNA appointment? Or is part of your consideration?

No, AP Art History does not carry any validation credit. I would check the AP course list on the USNA website (calculus, econ, English, etc) and focus on scoring your best on those AP exams. Make sure you report scores to USNA when testing. They will receive them in July during Plebe Summer. The plebes meet with an academic advisor to go over their fall schedule and they will use your AP scores and validation exams offered during Plebe Summer to decide placement.

Congratulations! AP Government will validate one of the core Plebe history classes.
