Hi! I recently received an offer to attend another CVW. For background I attended NASS and a spring CVW my junior year. I completed my application around a couple months ago and two weeks ago received another invite to attend a spring CVW. I am a fully qualified candidate and I was wondering if it is a good sign or if I am just on an email list and that’s why I was offered another CVW. Just trying to wrap my head around the recent invite I received to CVW. If anyone can help me get a better understanding of this, that would be great!

My son attended a spring CVW and NASS last year, then received an invite for a fall CVW. He didn't attend because of cost and since he has been there twice. He hasn't received an off for spring CVW. I say all this to share his experience, I don't know if an invite means anything or not.

I've gotten three invites to CVWs, and I went to NASS. I got accepted a week ago and just received another CVW. Getting CVWs are never a bad thing. It's a good sign, but you won't know you're in until you're in.

It's a positive sign! While I can't provide a definitive interpretation, it's a good sign that the admissions office is interested in your candidacy.

In the old days (as in 15+ years ago), being invited to a CVW was considered a good sign. Now, it is offered as another tool to get to know USNA and especially for those who aren't offered NASS. While I assume you would not be invited if you were totally unqualified (so a good sign in that respect), I've also read on these boards the tales of many candidates who attended CVW and ended up with turndowns (also many with acceptances).

Attend as an extra data point. Not attending will NOT be a negative as many candidates can't attend for various reasons.

I also have an appointment and got an invite. I thought it might be a mistake, but maybe it's also a "make up your mind" kind of thing lol

I did NASS and CVW last spring too.

I wanna go again, I had such a fun time last time :/.
I'm sure it was fun, but entertainment isn't really the the intent.
Seriously, I suspect they resend the list to all Candidates and don't bother weeding out those that have already attended NASS or CVW. There is limited capacity, and the objective is to get as many candidates as possible to visit the Yard, so don't be surprised or disappointed if you get declined after submitting the request for a CVW.

My son also went to a spring CVW last April, as a junior. The crowd seemed to be a mix of juniors and a seniors, and the speech the Superintendent gave the first night to parents and students was focused directly at the seniors, and why USNA over the other academies. In talking with parents the next day most of the seniors there had been offered appointments and were still undecided.

It was fun, but between upcoming competitions and general schoolwork, I can't justify it to myself. Plus, hopefully it will give someone who hasn't been a chance to go.

It was definitely a great experience, and one that honestly changed my "USAFA or bust" middle school dream to more of a "Hmm...I do like the ocean." lol

Yep, I went in October, then I set my goals for USNA. The plebe I shadowed was excellent.

I could copy and paste the second paragraph for my son!

Not a bad thought...Navy bases are generally not that far from some very nice places., while Air Force bases can be rather remote , think Minot ND.
(Of course, USAF tries to make up for by ensuring they have first class amenities, then going back to Congress to get more money for operating necessities like runways :).

I applied for summer seminar, got a "success!" email, and a few days later got another email inviting me to apply to summer seminar. USNA is kind of weird with these things lol.

My DD has accepted an appointment and received a CVW invite yesterday. I’m assuming it’s to cement her decision to attend (although not needed). She did however request a spring CVW prior to her appointment but was told they are generally reserved for juniors.

For those being offered CVWs, are they March and April dates or February?
