My son will be going to Summer Seminar, session A. I have read on other threads it would be nice for them to bring some goodies for his bunk mates.
Any thoughts or ideas???

i attended summer seminar this past June and we were well taken care of as far as food goes. if you want to give him some candy or something of the sort, that would definitely be cool especially on the last day while saying goodbyes (and "see you laters" for those eventually accepted)

hope this helps

We didn't really have to worry too much about food at night.

The extra Nutter Butter or two from lunch works out great around 10-ish.:thumb:

I brought a box of cookie bars. There's no need to send food for your son to share. You will be fed well. My element cadre had snacks for us on the last night as a treat.

I packed my son a few granola bars and some individually wrapped beef jerky, just in case one day for a meal they had something he'd refuse to eat. But even a picky eater like him had no trouble finding enough to eat at any of the SS's he attended. I was very glad that I'd packed them though because he appreciated them on the plane/in the airport during the many flight delays & cancellations he ran into with the 12 flight segments for the 3 SS's!

Yeah, plus SS is so fast paced and everyone's so busy running around everywhere that there is little time to relax and chill. My roommate and I actually slept a lot at the end of the day because we were so exhausted. It might be nice to share something with the other participants and your element leader, but it's completely unnecessary - just enjoy your time there.

I did most of my sleeping during the briefings.
Some of them were great, but others were like "Ugh, I already know this"

get used to it.

I'd save the care packages for basic if he makes it.

Can we send care packages during basic? I thought I heard we could only send letters, not even pictures.

Whatever sent during basic will be held (either directly by cadre or by leaving it in the post office) until after basic. Your son will have access to any packages immediately after basic.

they're going to have to deal with not eating when they want to during basic when you'll be way more hungry and tired than during summer seminar. there's really no reason to send any i don't think.
