Are there differences between the mean CFA scores for USNA and USMA? where will I find recent averages for both? (I find the MAX scores are the same across the board for males) thank you

At least for USNA, the minimums are not published and as far as I know neither are the mean scores—Probably so as not to encourage aiming for either the bare minimums or for just above average. It’s cliche advice, but do your best and try to get the max scores, or as close as you possibly can get.

Second the above. USNA doesn't publish means, averages, minimums, etc. USNA does focus on crunches, push-ups and mile run, but you should do your best on every event for two reasons. First, USMA or USAFA may focus on other events. Second, USNA doesn't want you doing poorly or tanking on any event.

Good to know where the USNA is focused, thank you. This info was on the CFA form sent to us in the Congressional Nom Application packet last fall but with no mention how recent the info is, or if it is for a specific academy:
Service Academies CFA Male Means BB: 69 PullUp: 11 Shuttle: 8.8 SitUp:80 PushUp: 60 Mile: 6:40
Son has been working to get back down close to 7 min mile after COVID wrecked his stamina a few weeks ago; about to retest in a couple days, crossing fingers that the 3rd time is a charm. Meeting with the Blue n Gold was so helpful, as he was advised to figure out which tests he could pull up on just a bit, in order to save up for the mile. his bests are 59, 16, 8.4, 85, 53, 7:10 when the stars align :)

My USNA plebe and I found this information somewhere last year and compiled it below. Can't remember the sources any more. As stated above, didn't find any info on USNA.

CFA ResultsAVE USMAMAX USMAAVE USAFA
Pushups547562
Pullups91812
One Mile Run6:435:206:29
Shuttle Run9.17.88.1

USMA used to post averages then switched to posting a goal to shoot for.
Averages previously posted were BB Throw 67', Pull-ups 9, Shutte9.1, Situps 72, Push-ups 54, Mile 6:34
Goal to shoot for BB Throw 69', Pull-ups 12, Shuttle 8.1, Sit-ups 81, Push-Ups 62, Mile Not Posted.

Over time, I found the 'averages' across the Academies are essentially the same. I assume that USMA requirement to provide a video of your pull-ups and push-ups likely lowers the average a bit in comparison to the other three schools. The numbers noted above are close to the men's average results that I have seen in the past for each event. Note that if you achieve 'average' on each event, then your overall score will be quite good as most candidates do not achieve the 'average number' on each one. E.g., a 'runner' may do well on the mile, but not so great on pull-ups. The key is to start a true weekly routine during your junior year (or earlier) so that you achieve your best score on each event. An article by Stew Smith hosted by Military.com (just search "CFA") is a great reference for you during your preparations.

For women, some good averages are: BB Throw 42', Pull-ups 3, (Flex Arm Hang, 24 sec), Shuttle 9.5, Sit-ups 81, Push-ups 43, Mile 7:03

Best of luck with your application and pursuit of an appointment!
