Do all pull-ups have to be consecutive within the two minutes or is the candidate able to drop and then restart?

2 minutes... hang as long as you want... drop and you are done. Best wishes!
You can’t hang as long as you want, either. They are to be done to the administrator’s cadence.

OP, this is all spelled out in detail in the Instruction to Candidates. I would make sure that you and your examiner read it thoroughly before taking the CFA.

Everything 99Gold said is on-point.

Cadence Pullups...USAFA has never "trained" ALOs (that I know of, I could be wrong) on precisely what that cadence is. I've been doing this for 30 years (just got my pin!!) and my "cadence" is simply: "When you are ready, take the bar, full hang, and I'll say begin...from them on, your pace, but don't stop for more than a second or two." And then I call out each one...if they stop in the hang position, I'll give them a moment (second or two) and then call out "come on, you're not done, pull!!!" And we'll see what happens from there.

USMA has precise videos on their website. USAFA also has videos. Since the test is the same across 4 SAs, the guidance is the same.

I am quite sure if you drop off the bar after your 2 minutes start, that event is done.

Make sure it’s straight up and down pull-ups too without kipping (it’s not crossfit).
