CFA Results

I just took my CFA, and I am worried about the results. I found a thread with the minimum numbers and it seems that I am barely passing by the skin of my teeth (and maybe failing pushups). However, it seems that these minimums are not set in stone by any means as they are not published by any of the academies, so I am unsure of how the results could affect my file.

Additionally, I am academically above average, have a family member at West Point, and I have received an LOE. Ultimately, how will these results hurt my chances/will I need to retake the CFA?

*Male
Basketball Throw: 56’
Pull-Ups: 8
Shuttle Run: 9.58
Sit-ups: 62
Pushups: 41
Mile: 7:30

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Each of the CFA scores are below the average posted in the USMA CFA Instructions. That said, none of have direct knowledge of the current CFA thresholds - my only guidance would be to continue your CFA preparation regime in case you are requested to retake the CFA. Even if you are not asked to retake, getting into a regular workout cadence will help prepare you for plebe summer.

How long ago did you submit them to USMA? Does your portal show the CFA as completed?

I submitted them today, so they do not show up as competed yet.

At this point, all you can do is wait to see if they are passing scores. I agree with FMHS-79 that you should keep training, as if you don't pass, you will need to work to improve.

I received an update on my portal today requesting me to retake the CFA and submit my new results by the end of February.
Do it! Good luck!

DS has a pullup bar in his doorway. He does 300 situps, pullups every day (in as little sets as possible) and does pullups everytime he walks by his door (works out to 150 a day or so).

With thenchance you have to test again and so much time, go after it!

Thank you so much. I'm determined and hopeful. I'll be sure to update this thread once my test has been completed.

I finally retook my CFA. My results are not great, but I'm hoping they have improved enough for me to qualify physically, as passing the CFA is the only hurdle I have left.

Basketball Throw: 55'
Pullups: 9
Shuttle Run: 8.50
Situps: 67
Pushups: 42
Mile: 6:52

Averages for males are
Basketball throw 67’
Pull ups 9
Shuttle run 9.1
Sit ups 72
Push ups54
Mile 6:43

You are cutting it close. I had two areas below average tho(65 sit-ups, 9.2 shuttle run) and still passed.

Those numbers are borderline at best. Keep working hard and hope they request you to re-take.. The rest of your resume looks excellent so maybe you will get another shot at it.

Good Luck to you.

The two above videos really helped me with the basketball throw. Make sure you throw the basketball like a grenade rather than a football. Unfortunately, a football-style-throw is presented as the "proper form" in the CFA instructions packet. I did not post the above links for the purpose of advertising. Please do not ban me!
