Greetings all: I had mostly good scores.... but my arms were DEAD from pushups because I maxed it during the mile. On top of that, I was below average on Bball throw and shuttle run. Should I retake for a better time? I usually run in the high 4's but my arms held me back, and I think that if I strategize better I can run faster for the mile and have time to practice more for Bball throw. I would not expect the academy to appreciate "below average". Thoughts?

Basketball throw: 58 feet
Pullups: 16
Shuttle Run: 8.4 seconds
Crunches: 81
Pushups: 75 (actually 78 but my administrator didn't stop me for the last three)
Mile: 5:29

Have you compared these scores against the USAFA "competitive scores" yet? That's your answer.

Pretty much self-explanatory!

Thanks for the suggestion, I will retake it in a little while. I have the green check for CFA in the portal so I passed, but I would definitely like to see some improvements.

Up to you spend your time as you want, but if you have a green check mark (and it has been there for a while) for USAFA, why in the world are you looking to take it again (unless for another SA)?

Scores are fine. If you have the green check box, you cannot submit new scores anyway. USAFA would notify you if they wanted a retake.

Your shuttle run was above average. It says in the CFA portion in your Instructions to Candidates that the shuttle run average for this year is 8.7. I passed with lower scores overall than you, so don't even worry about it. Your mile time was close to being maxed as well, fastest they take is 5:20. Other than bball throw and sit-ups, you're way above average.

The CFA is pass/fail. If you passed, you passed. You wouldn’t even be able to submit second scores unless USAFA requested it, and they’re not going to if you passed.

Question on the pass/fail. I thought each applicant received a score on the CFA (that’s not shared to anyone) even with a “pass” status. Please advise further - thanks!

When a candidate's CFA is submitted to admissions, it is "scored" and a score from 0 - 600 is entered into "the system." From there...it joins all the other bits and pieces of the entire application. Sometime later, when the entire package is complete, the "admissions God's" will run the entire package through another algorithm, known only to a select few, and a final numerical value, the weighted composite score, will be generated.

Once all the WCS's are complete, it's a simple process of "rack and stack" from lowest to the highest. Then...if you need 1200 in the class, perhaps go from 1-1400 and offer appointments. A certain percentage will turn the offer down. You'll eventually fill the class.

Okay...that's sorta silly worded and such but it's essentially "the process."

Your score is fine. Focus on something else or go have fun with your friends, read a book, sleep, enjoy your senior year.
