CFA is pass/fail. Those are passing scores. Yes, they are good. Now, devote more time, energy, and preparation to the more important parts of the candidate application. Good luck.

My DS just did his CFA at NASS and we were curious what folks thought about the following scores:

Bball Throw: 60
Pull ups: 15 (PB)
Shuttle Run: 8.2 (PB)
Sit ups 71
Push up: 75 (PB)
Mile: 6:15 (PB)

He felt pretty good with all except for the Situps and Bball throw. Just wondering about the additional value added in taking the whole exam again and trying to improve those when most of the other events were among his personal bests (PB) since training for the last several months.
Did your son's score show in his portal or was he told pass fail before he left? My group was told we would find out 1 week after NASS, but my portal still doesn't show pass or fail.

I spent the $10 on that app. It sure if I was scammed or how accurate it is but here are the result. 1687141343781.png

Hey there, first post here but have been browsing for a while and receiving good information. My DD just sent me these CFA results, first attempt.

Pull ups 1, Shuttle Run, 10.12, sit-ups 65, push ups 50. BB throw unknown yet lol. Kid weighs 110 pounds soaking wet but has grit. Any experience or feedback greatly appreciated as she is putting in the work.

First time posting and learning a lot. Thank you for sharing the excel sheet.

My DD attended Summer Seminar session 2. She thought she failed the CFA because she said she couldn't do 1 pull up and only got 8/10th of the way up during her attempt. She did OK on the other events - 7:19 mile run, 33 pushups, 67 sit ups, and 46 feet basketball throw. She logged into her portal this morning and to her surprise saw Qualified under CFA in green letters. Does this means she passed? She wants to do another one because she thinks she can do a lot better since she only trained sporadically for 2 weeks leading up to the Summer Seminar due to AP and final exams. Should she do another CFA to get a higher score? Also, I hear you can transfer these results to other service academies. She is also applying to West Point/AFA. How do you transfer these results to other Service Academies?

I’m unsure about West Point, but the USAFA website says that if you took the CFA at another school summer program, you just need to tell them to fax or send results to the USAFA. There is an address and phone number listed for test administrators, but I’m unsure if it’s where the USNA would send the information. It also has a chart of average scores.

I figured there had to be clearer instructions somewhere, so I decided to email my admissions counselor earlier today.

I was at session 2 as well and got marked qualified as of this morning. Hope your daughter had as much fun as I did!

Thanks for the info! She'll contact her admissions counselor as well to get some clarification. Yes, she said she had lots of fun, and is very stoked about applying to the Naval Academy!

When I was a NASS detailer, I always advised candidates to take it again, especially if they thought they could do better. In reality, the conditions are not in a candidate's favor. Candidates are in a new environment and it is taken soon after they arrive at USNA. Most are probably somewhat fatigued from travel and a time zone change as well. Then you add in the amount of people which adds its own dynamic from seeing the other people you're competing against to people just clogging up the track.

Sure, some stress is a good thing. However, I'd rather take a CFA on my terms if my results could be significantly better.

Anyone know if USNA sends any email notification confirming the passing of CFA? USMA provided one.

The CFA is an area where a candidate can post some eye popping numbers - maxing multiple events, etc. unlikely your candidate will significantly improve sit-ups or b-ball throw so the remaining score Look solid. Time would
Be better spent Improving SAT/ACT scores, GPA,

Check the portal. My DS's updated to Qualified in the CFA on the 22nd. He was in Session 3 of NASS.
I get that. I’m looking for something I can provide to my son’s JROTC commandant who wants to see it before submitting nomination.
