I am a bit worried about my pull-ups on the CFA as I was only able to complete 8. I am roughly 6' and 185 of mostly muscle (4 years of powerlifting/Olympic style weightlifting and very intense track sprinting preparation). The other portions of the test went pretty well, but I still am a bit nervous about how my low pullup count may affect me. Will USMA take into consideration my body composition as pull-ups may be easier for someone who weighs less?

Pull-ups are pull-ups, in USMA’s eyes. They don’t have the wherewithal to consider every possibility in a very subjective field. Should a skinny applicant have a faster mile time than a stocky one? Should a muscular candidate have more push-ups than a lithe one? Who knows? The scores are the scores. If you did your best, then move on. Don’t worry about what is no longer in your control.

There are plenty of cadets at USMA who did 8. Improve if you can but that score won’t prevent you from appointment by itself.

I would say 8 pull-ups is a solid number. If you are knocking them out with good form it is better to get 8 solid pull ups then 12 with bad form.
